Overnight Mid-Week Run to Montville 2

Christm[s in July This year the Christmas in July was held at the Bungunyah Manor Mount Tamborine. Members congregated at Arthur Earle Park at Nerang in bright winter sunshine before heading off through the Sunday morning traffic towards Canungra. The event was well attended by 40 members and it was good to see Gold Coast members that had not been to some of our more recent events, as well as JDCQ President Tony Herald and his wife Karen. As the traffic was fairly heavy near the Nerang markets, members became separated after leaving the park and our host for the day Ray Howlett kindly stopped outside Nerang to allow all the stragglers (the editor included) to catch up. A few kilometres out we turned off north along Maudsland Road and then left at Birds Road past Thumm Estate Winery towards Eagle Heights. The weather was clear and perfect for a winter drive along the winding road through the valley before climbing up through the hills to Mount Tamborine. The village was crowded with people visiting the craft stalls and eateries as we headed up to Bungunyah Manor. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner and shown into the restaurant where there was a welcoming fire burning in the grate, and offered glasses of mulled wine and canapes. The room and each table was tastefully decorated for the mid-year festive activity and after everybody was seated crusty bread was offered around followed by a delicious two course lunch. The staff made you feel welcome and the service was excellent and drinks very reasonably priced. Much chin wagging occurred over lunch and Chairman Ray had trouble at times making himself heard above the din when he was making announcements. Everybody enjoyed the luncheon and thanks go to Ray and Gwen Howlett for organising a great event. *************************************************************************************** Members Please Note From July until November monthly meetings will be held at: Ashmore Tavern 161 Cotlew Street Ashmore (UBD Map 28 L20) The meeting time will remain as before 7.30pm 3
