TREASURERS REPORT A complete copy of the minutes including the Treasurers Report can be obtained from your State Director. TAC REPORT Inspections every fortnight at Shed 27, are going well. TAC just inspected a Big $ Hotrod that was imported to S.A. then sold to a Qld Rodder. Looked great till it was checked on the hoist, the chassis had been notched in both directions making it very weak, non-compliant Willwood brakes and NPT brake line fittings and no handbrake fitted. The owner is going to build a new chassis and swap everything over. TAC warn & advise prospective street rod purchasers to be very careful when buying USA built cars, - do your homework!! 5 QHRP REPORT There is a tentative booking of 17-19 th May, 2019, for the Brisbane State Title Hot Rod Show to return to the Ekka, but would be in a New Multi-storey car-park for a very reduced fee, which would enable spectators entry prices to be lowered.
GENERAL BUSINESS The DC Raffle is going well. Brian sold 5 books at Harrigans Show and Trade Tools asked him to set up at their new Diner on Boundary Road at Archerfield this Saturday. The Qld. S.E. Memorial Run planning is going well and Rod had a Draft Submission for the Wall Of Rememberence, at Willowbank. Phil proposed ( seconded by Paul ) we accept the concept, with price to build wall. Delegates voted in favour. Tivoli Drive-in are interested in hosting an Event there, in March next year, to replace the cancelled Ipswich festival. Day would include;- Show n Shine, Traders & food, Rock n Roll bands and a car movie. Colin & Kayleen will follow up with Donna, from the Drive-in, to get the ball rolling. Anybody wishing to lend a hand, please contact Col or Kayleen The Caloundra Ignite Chilli Festival has a smaller display area available than originally offered, but we`re still going to support & promote the ASRF & Beachfest. Col got some of the new Slimline ASRF stickers made, in two sizes, ( funded by Beachfest )and gave them to the clubs on his trip up North, - there are more being produced, so will be available soon. Eliminators asked if Col was happy with the measures undertaken by the club, at their recent Swap / show & shine, with regard to traffic movement through-out the day. Col replied he was happy that the club tried to control vehicle movement, had announcements, through-out the day, and there were plenty of officials on hand to walk vehicles out through the spectators. Thankyou Eliminators for your efforts. Monthly meeting closed at 8:33 pm, with Col declaring the positions of Divisional Director & Assistant Divisional Director vacant. Col thanked the delegates, and Don & Brian, for their support over the last two years, & the opportunity to serve the Qld. membership as Director. Kerry Digney was called upon to chair the A.G.M. Queensland District Council A.G.M. 2018 Opened at 8:35 pm by Kerry Digney. Kerry read :- State Director s Report. 2018 The monthly DC meetings remain well attended by most affiliated SE clubs. Our hope of having the Video- Conference system working by now but is being trialled and should be operating soon. Our Annual Regional DC Meeting at Bargara Beach Rod Run remains popular and well attended. Membership continues to grow, throughout the state and while some established clubs struggle to retain or attract 6 members, other clubs report a steady increase. As has been the case in the past years, Individual membership of the ASRF remains a popular choice. Charter Clubs.
As in past years, it appears our affiliated clubs are doing well with just about all clubs running a successful Annual Campout, Rod Run or Swap meet / Show. Some clubs seem to be struggling to maintain membership however. I travelled to the Far north of the State once again in September and was able to meet with Top Of the State- Cairns, Townsville Rodders and Saints in Townsville as well as Mackay Hot rod Club & Hwy 66 in Rockhampton then the clubs in the Hervey Bay Region. It was great to meet with members through-out the State, see their cars and projects and put faces to names. Bay Area Roadsters, One of Brisbanes original clubs has been reformed and gained affiliation to the ASRF. Events June saw the staging of the 4 th Annual Ryno Insurance Downunder Beachfest, with increased participation,& attendance by the public. It once again attracted nearly 700 Entrants, from as far afield as Tasmania and NZ. and Far North Qld.& was attended by more than 30,000 people on the Saturday alone. The Event goes from strength to strength and returned a good profit to the DC. Raffle. With 1 st Prize an Engine/transmission package from Horsepower World, 2 nd Prize Rodtech frontend valued at $5,500 and Makita tools valued at $3500.tickets are selling well at most events Brian attends.raffle is expected to return a $20,000 Profit. Shows There was no Brisbane Hot Rod & Street machine Show this year as a suitable venue at a acceptable price wasn`t available. QHRP hoped to run a show & Swap in a large woolstore but the venue was leased at the last minute as a Movie Set. The One-day Show & Shine Scene continues to provide opportunities to show Off one`s ride, while raising tens of thousands of Dollars for charities and causes. QSRTAC The TAC is operating well and the Qld Dept. Of Transport & Main Roads continues to be very happy with the progress & the fact that all negative comments have ceased. The Central Inspection Station at Shed 27, Capalaba, is proving to be a success for the TAC Inspection Team, with many Street Rod Owners reporting a positive experience during the Inspection Process. Regional Qld is almost fully covered with multiple inspectors in all major centres, except Townsville. New Street Rod Registrations continue to average 6 per month. Future Aims # Establish a Qld Website in conjunction with the TAC, to better inform Qld members of Build Guidelines, Changes, Events, post minutes & enable us to reach more of our individual members # Build the Qld Raffle to offer a car as first prize. STEWARDS REPORT Mick Roche Nothing to report as there was no 2018 Brisbane Hot Rod & Street Machine Show, but planning for 2019. Treasurers Report : Brian had difficulty delivering an Annual Financial Report, as records had not been returned from the accountant. This included a Beachfest report & D.C. report. Motion was put forward, by Kerry, to prepare these reports for the December meeting. Delegates voted to accept this arrangement. 7 Kerry called for nominations for the position of Assistant State Director Rod Brewer self nominated for the position of Asst S.D. seconded by, Paul McIntyre Brenda Chapman nominated Kayleen Maguire as Asst S.D. seconded by, Frank Fanning
Both candidates gave a brief history of their rodding life, & involvement in the ASRF. After a vote Kayleen was voted in as the new Asst. S.D. Congratulations Kayleen. There were no other nominations for State Director, so I ( Don Bentley ), nominated Col for the position. Davin Hayes seconded the nomination.. Col was voted back in unopposed. Before Col accepted the position again,he asked the floor if anyone had any evidence concerning his financial management of Beachfest & the D.C. accounts, as there are still rumours floating around with regard to financial impropriety, despite Col answering all questions. As there were none the matter is closed.
