Brisbane Chinese Culture & Arts Festival is back again on 3 November 2018. The Festival goers, music and dance lovers, your time are up now to meet us again in Brisbane City Hall! A group of Tibetan dancers and musicians directly from Shangri-La, a dream land in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province China, will present the Dream of Shangri-La Music and Dance performances in Brisbane City Hall in the evening at the Festival. The Diqing Shangri-La Tibetan Song & Dance Art Troupe is an extraordinary high quality performing arts company. It has toured to the world for over 40 countries, including Germany, America, Russia, Austria, England, Japan, Singapore and Switzerland etc, and received great acclaim for its lovely music, song and dance dedicated to this mysterious land full of mythological legends by James Hilton in his best sale book Lost Horizon. The performances in the evening will also include a Trio Ensemble in traditional Chinese instruments of Pipa, Guzheng and Bamboo flute by three sweet girls to present classic and modern Chinese music. Furthermore, a top level soprano from Beijing will present selected very popular Chinese folk songs to the audience. To make the festival one of the major culture events in Queensland and more attractive to all communities across Brisbane, high profile musicians from Southern Cross Soloist and Australian Piano Duo have been invited as the guest performers to present Chinese themed music at the Festival. The 16th Brisbane Chinese Cultural & Arts Festival is aiming at creating, connecting and celebrating the best of Chinese traditional and modern arts and culture as part of the Multicultural Diversity in Queensland. Under the 2018 festival theme of Colourful Yunnan and Taste Yunnan, the Festival programme will also include series events of exhibitions, displays and demonstrations to be held in Brisbane City Hall to introduce Yunnan, a province at the south western part of China, and a land of various ethnic groups, colourful cultures, landscapes, natural sceneries, creatures, etc where one could taste the most aspects of our planet, which makes it one of the best travel destinations in the world. Yunnan photos, pictures and the books will be displayed at the exhibition. Colourful Yunnan ethnic minority costumes will be demonstrated and showed at the Festival. In addition, as one of the best tea growth areas in China, the Tea Art Master from Yunnan will demonstrate the tea art at the Festival and offer the stylish and quality tea from Yunnan to the visitors for tasting. Even more, some selected guests will be lucky to enjoy special and delicious Yunnan food at the Yunnan Master Chef & Culinary show during the Festival. About Brisbane Chinese Culture Festival Start from 1998, the Mainland Chinese Society Queensland (MCSQ) Inc receives the funding from Brisbane City Council and Qld State Government to organise Brisbane Chinese Cultural & Arts Festivals each year. The Festival is recognised as a major Chinese cultural event in Queensland and is a highlight on Brisbane's cultural calendar. The Festival seeks to foster stronger connections and collaborations between Brisbane and China over series program events of each festival. The Festival presents a series of cultural experiences ranging from Chinese cultural displays, live performances, folk arts and photo exhibitions to traditional Chinese martial arts and sports in different themes and styles.
