Model A Flyer Model A Ford Club of NSW Inc Web site www.modelafordclubofnsw.com.au August 2015 Club Meetings are held at Holroyd Community Centre, Miller St., Merrylands. The parking entrance is in Newman Street. Meetings are held from 8 pm on the second Friday of each month unless otherwise stated. After massive preparation and planning for All Fords Day by the Combined Ford Clubs of NSW committee the event had to be postponed due to the muddy conditions resulting from the preceding heavy rains. The new date is the 29th Nov 2015. Snow fell generously in mid July in parts of NSW and although none of it reached Camden, the setting inside the Camden Valley Inn for our Christmas in July could have been in the middle of Snowland. Phil Dalton and his family of little helpers decorated the room in a manner that would have befitted a Hollywood movie. The attendance was great and was complimented with the inclusion of about fifteen children who had a great time. The inclusion of children this year added to the Christmassy atmosphere while relieving parents of childcare issues. Phil raffled off some of the decorations and subsequently donated a tidy sum to Cancer Research. The ambience of this venue is so perfect for this event and coupled with Phil Daltons' flair for decorating the result is amazing. A BIG THANKS Phil on behalf of all who attended. Sadly we heard that club member John Shepherd passed away during the month having PRESIDENT S REPORT been unwell for a considerable time. Although I have never met John or his wife Robin I am saddened that another good person has moved on and respectfully offer sympathies from myself, and also on behalf of club members who knew him, to Robin and their family. As I write this, Shannon's Sydney Classic is on at Eastern Creek. Unfortunately I cannot attend as a torn muscle is preventing me from driving the Model A but I know that members were enthusiastic to attend and I know that we are well represented. At our recent meeting I was privileged to present a small plaque to Ron Doyle for his twenty five years of representation as our club delegate to the Council of Motor Clubs, for which he also received a medallion from the CMC presented to him by Phil Dalton in recognition of his dedication to the cause and active participation in CMC activities. Thank you Sir Ron. Our next exciting event will be the tour to Young on the 4th to the 7th September, being organised by Barry Rose and Col Harmer who are keen to show off their town with visits to several interesting places, hope to see you there. Goodbye Ford now Regards Tom Virgona

Glebe Fire Station 5th August Report We met at Central for our usual coffee & cake looking anxiously at the door for any more starters but alas only 8 arrived. Our luck with the weather finally ran out, overcast and windy & felt like 10C. The bus took us up Glebe Pt Rd to St Johns Rd. There we saw a beautiful array of Victorian homes and terraces 2up & 2 down. On arrival at the Fire Station we were warmly welcomed by the station staff. First thing we noticed a restored 1927 Dennis Fire Truck, boy they were sure tough men back then; The Wednesday Wanderers no roof and no front brakes. Unfortunately the main truck was out on a training run but the Bronto extendable Ladder Truck was there, able to reach up to 25 M for middle range high building s. Edna & Ron Cox joined us at the station in time for the talk given by Station Officer who was full of information. We met Sue & Mick Rock at the Toxteth Hotel where we enjoyed lunch in front of an open fire swelling our numbers to 12. Thanks Joan & Don Bailey for a another great day. John Hyland Next Wednesday Wanderers Day is at Chris O brien Lifehouse, on Wednesday 2 nd Sept Meet at Central Railway for Coffee at 9 9:15am, then catch 412 Bus to Missenden Rd for our tour of the Lifehouse Complex starting at 10 30 am. We will have lunch in King St Newtown TBA on the day. Could you please advise me of your intention to participate as we would like a rough idea of numbers as to how many guides are needed. For more info please call John Hyland 0246571734 or 0406368527 on the day.
