Moved Ray, Seconded Bill. Carried Matters Arising: Our 2018 Dunedin Auto-spectacular entry form has been submitted. A note was added to our entry form to advise them next year we will be celebrating 70 years since the launch of the Rover P4. This year we will have space for 5 cars and the theme is Summer Holiday. It was decided to use one of our club gazebos with club logo sign, along with Kevin s P2 & 216 cabrio, Terry s 216 cabrio. Other ideas for the display were a surf board, table & chairs with umbrella, picnic basket, display boards with Rover picnic photos. Perhaps an SD1 or 75 with sunroof open, bike rack with bike/s. Alan, Norman & Ray volunteered to get together and finalise the display. Our club hi-vis vests have arrived and were on display at the meeting and at our AGM held last month. Thanks were passed on to Norman for organising the venue for our recent AGM. Eleanore gave a brief update on repairs to her 75. Agenda items still to be resolved are club feature in Classic Car magazine, storage of club information and Alan is working on a club gift register. Correspondence: Newsletters from Canterbury, Auckland, Bay of Plenty Email from Diana Kearns to say she is willing to accept the nomination to continue as our club Librarian. Email forwarded from Jan Smith re someone wanting to buy a fully restored premium brand English sporting saloon or coupé dating from the mid-late 30s but may consider a post-wwii car. Email sent to the Waikato club to ask who supplied their car banners. David Raven replied. Email from Chat Bus including a receipt for the donation of $78.00 being the raffle money from the last Nove Rove. Email forwarded from Auckland Rover Club re P6 engine mounts for sale.
Finance: July bank statement was tabled and discussed. Ray phoned the bank to complain about a $15 bank fee charged to our bonus saver account. This was because we did a transaction over the counter. He asked them to refund the fee and they agreed. They had also started charging us a $2.50 per month account maintenance fee. To prevent future fees it has been changed to an on-line bonus saver account and after discussion it was agreed to give Alan and Norman the ability to log in to internet banking. Statements will have to be down loaded as they will not be posted to us. Thank you to the 12 members who have paid their annual subs. Moved the Treasurers report be received, Bill. Seconded, Norman. Carried. General Business: At our March meeting someone mentioned we already have 2 car banners. No one at the August meeting knew where they are. Does any other members know where they are? Ray has received a reply from the Waikato Rover Club to tell us who supplied their banners and he knows another supplier who can give us a quote for new banners if needed. We have received an invitation from Taieri Court Rest Home in Mosgiel for us to visit them with 5 or 6 Rovers. For the residents to talk to us and see and the cars. They suggested the visit be on a weekend in September or October after 1pm. After discussion it was decided to possibly add a visit to a use it day run some time. The resolution passed at our recent AGM to engrave the names of members who have passed on our Memorial Run trophy was discussed. Ray will send a list of names to Norman who will get the trophy engraved. Ray asked if we should we continue to have our newsletters available on our website for everyone to see. No other Rover clubs in NZ do this. He suggested that they only be available to our members through a login. After discussion it was decided to leave it as it is. Alan reported Club website hits for July were 448 compared to 302 in June. Terry mentioned a bad review he had seen in an Australian car magazine regarding the British Car Museum in Te Awanga near Hastings. Terry has visited this museum and he disagrees with the review. He said it has a great collection of British vehicles and is well worth a visit. There are 9 Rovers shown on the Museum website. https://www.britishcarmuseum.co.nz/
