This evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and enjoy the cuisine that New Orleans is famous for. (D) February 13 New Orleans/Board NCL Spirit Start your day the way New Orleanais have since 1862 with café au lait and beignets at the world famous Café Du Monde. You ll have time to enjoy a leisurely morning of strolling and shopping the French Quarter before boarding your ship at mid-day to enjoy lunch. We set sail at 5:00 p.m. bound for the sun and sand of the Western Caribbean! February 14 At Sea As you settle in your cabin on board the NCL Spirit, you ll notice that the theme is decidedly water oriented. With swimming pools, hot tubs, and even a water treadmill, you ll have plenty of opportunities to get in the swim of things. Enjoy an invigorating walk around the promenade, practicing your golf swing or indulge yourself with a rejuvenating spa treatment. After lunch, check out the card room for a game of bridge with friends, or relax in the library with a good book. With freestyle cruising, the choice is yours. This evening, sample one of the many restaurants, with 15 dining options, you ll have plenty of time to enjoy them all. February 15 Costa Maya, Mexico You ll dock in Costa Maya this morning at 10:00 a.m. Included in your tour is a visit to the mysterious Mayan ruins of Chacchoben, the Place of Red Corn. The Mayan temples here date to 700 A.D. and were reported to the Mexican Government in 1972 by an American archeologist. These amazing ruins have only been open to the public since 2002, and many of the structures still bear traces of the red paint with which they were coated. Your private guide will provide you with insight into the Mayan culture and history of this area as you travel to the ruins as well as on-site. The temples of Chachoben are thought to have been built to study the stars as well as a place of worship. The top of the main temple has a structure to track the sun s path throughout the day. You ll have ample time to roam the grounds which have a jungle feel teeming with chaco trees and wild orchids. Return to your ship for a 6:00 p.m. departure. After dinner, take in a Broadway style show in the Stardust Theater! February 16 Belize City, Belize This morning, you ll dock in Belize City at 8:00 a.m. Be prepared for amazing adventures exploring the natural beauty of Belize, Mother Nature s Best Kept Secret! Choose a leisurely boat ride 20 miles up the Old Belize River where you ll spot iguanas, birds, crocodiles and howler monkeys. Or opt for an excursion to Altun Ha, the most extensively excavated site in Belize. The 13 temples here date to 550 A.D. and the two plaza areas are well maintained and easily traversed. Whether your interest is exploring the jungles, observing wildlife or learning about the Mayan people, Belize has it all. Return to your ship for a 6:00 p.m. departure this evening. February 17 Roatan Bay Islands, Honduras This morning, you ll dock in Roatan, the largest of Honduras Bay Islands at 8:00 a.m. This hidden gem boasts some of the Caribbean s most beautiful white sand beaches and amazing opportunities for snorkeling! Located near the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest after Australia s Great Barrier Reef, the setting here is stunning! Who could blame you if you choose to spend your day walking along the beach collecting sea shells and marveling at the beautiful turquoise waters. However, there is much to be done on this island. Rent a scooter and explore on your own stopping to enjoy a fresh lobster lunch and shop for colorful pottery and wood carvings. You might choose to tour both the Roatan Butterfly Gardens and the Iguana Farm. For those looking for a different type of adventure, check out Roatan s Zipline over the jungle canopy. If you re a horse lover, nothing quite beats a horseback ride on the beach. Return to the ship for a 5:00 p.m. sailing and enjoy a cool drink on deck as you sail away from the beauty of Honduras.
