A Message From President Ainslie Hello Friends, I hope you have all had a wonderful week! I was very excited to finish summer school last Saturday and have a day off last Sunday. I went to the cinema and saw Philomena and LOVED IT! Apart from being an excellent film, it had been so long since I had been to the cinema that I had forgotten how pleasurable it is, so I m really looking forward to the Foundation fundraiser film The Monuments Men and hope others will come along and feel good too. The sound of quacking is ringing in my ears ducks WILL be racing in Darwin on 9 February and there are plenty of ducks available. $12 will get you a duck with your special number and the chance to win lots of BUCKS. How about that? Ducks for Bucks!!! Get onto Jeff and Di or myself or others who have the sheets and numbers available for sale so you don t miss the chance to be in it. It is amazing that by going to the movies and racing ducks we are actually Engaging Rotary and Change Lives. Who thought it could be so fun? Have a great day and Thank you Ainslie 2005-2006 Service Above Self Rotary Club of Darwin Sunrise Bulletin Page 3.

Rotary Awareness Make a special effort to become more familiar with Rotary its history and its diverse programs as we work together to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world. JANUARY IS ROTARY AWARENESS MONTH Tolerance of Differences Occasionally there is a temptation to criticize the laws, customs and traditions of another country which may seem strange or contrary to our own. In some instances illegal practices or customs of one nation are completely lawful and acceptable in another. As members of an international organization dedicated to world understanding and peace, it behooves Rotarians to exercise restraint in judging our Rotary friends and citizens from other countries when their behavior seems unusual to us. The statement adopted in 1933 recognized that some activities and local customs may be legal and customary in some but not in others. In part is says Rotarians in all countries should recognize these facts and there should be thoughtful avoidance of criticism of the laws and customs of one country by Rotarians of another country. The policy also cautions against any effort on part of Rotarians of one country to interfere with the laws or customs of another country. As we strive to strengthen the bonds of understanding, goodwill and friendship, these policies still provide good advice and guidance. 2002-2003 Sow the Seeds of Love Rotary Club of Darwin Sunrise Bulletin Page 6.
