1-877-725-6674 Take a journey that offers the unique opportunity to combine Botswana s extraordinary landscapes, with a chance to stay in lodges that have a strong connection with the local communities. Such experiences are generally rare in Botswana, where the focus is usually on the big game. This adventure though provides a fascinating cultural experience alongside your game viewing one. Starting in the Khwai Community Area you will discover how the local communities manage this exceptional game viewing area, by paying a visit to the villages where the staff themselves live. Sango is one of the few lodges in Botswana where you can directly experience this and learning how the financial support from these lodges is helping with housing, education and healthcare is a truly inspiring way to spend some time. Moving on to the Okavango Delta you will then enjoy some exceptional hospitality and some truly remarkable big game viewing, before beginning the final leg of your journey amongst the barren landscapes of the Makgadikgadi Pans. Here you will stay in a camp that has become a model for sustainable tourism, working with the local San Bushmen to help them manage their ancient way of life in the face of modern encroachment. HIGHLIGHTS: Walk the Makgadikgadi Pans with the local San Bushmen Try to catch Tiger Fish in the channels of the Okavango Delta Enjoy night drives in search of the nocturnal predators of the Khwai Region Visit the villages that are home to your camp crew Float down the Boteti River in a specially adapted photography boat TOUR INCLUDES: 3 scheduled light aircraft flights (baggage restrictions apply) 9 nights accommodation in traditional safari lodges 9 breakfasts, 8 lunches and 9 dinners House drinks throughout Shared transfers between airstrips, airports and lodges Shared safari excursions Conservation and park fees

*Please note the prices shown are per person and based on two persons sharing a twin or double room

ITINERARY DAY 1: MAUN - KHWAI COMMUNITY AREA After clearing immigration and collecting your baggage in Maun, you will be escorted to the charter area of the airport for your short flight on to the Khwai Community Area. There you will be met and transferred to your lodge, where you'll enjoy lunch and a relaxing afternoon before a late safari activity. (L,D) DAY 2: KHWAI COMMUNITY AREA Enjoy a full day game drive and a picnic lunch in the reserve and private concession, a chance to really appreciate the fantastic game viewing and beautiful scenery the area affords. The guides will be on hand throughout the day to inform you about the local plants and trees of the area and their uses in traditional medicine and building, which provides a hugely enjoyable and educational addition to the day. (B,L,D) DAY 3: KHWAI COMMUNITY AREA Today will be a chance for you to visit the local area and learn more about how the partnership between the camp and the villages have benefitted the local communities. From new housing to schools and medical facilities, monies from the camp are directly distributed throughout the local communities, along with assistance on how best to use it. Camp staff are drawn from these villages too and provide a rare insight into what life is like living on the fringes of big game viewing areas. (B,L,D) DAY 4: KHWAI COMMUNITY AREA - OKAVANGO DELTA You will enjoy a final morning safari activity and breakfast in the lodge, before being transferred to the airstrip for a light aircraft flight down to the Okavango Delta. On arrival you will be transferred on to your next accommodation in good time for lunch. An afternoon of relaxation and tranquility around the lodge will then be followed by a chance to perhaps enjoy a mokoro canoe safari through the channels of the Delta. (B,L,D) DAY 5: OKAVANGO DELTA A full day in the Delta comes with a choice of safari activities today including day and night game drives, guided walks, boat trips, mokoro canoe safaris and fishing trips. However you choose to spend your time though, you can be assured of the company of expert guides, who are amongst the friendliest in Botswana and really help to make your time exploring the Delta a very special one. (B,L,D)

DAY 6: OKAVANGO DELTA Today provides a chance to slow things down a little, perhaps taking the opportunity to enjoy a lie-in before breakfast and a late morning game drive. Alternatively, you might like to grab your binoculars and a bird book and head out with your guide in search of some of the 450 bird species found in the Okavango Delta. In between activities you can relax amongst the lovely surroundings of the lodge and enjoy the superb food and hospitality for which it is renowned. (B,L,D) DAY 7: OKAVANGO DELTA - MAKGADIKGADI PANS After a final morning spent exploring the Okavango Delta you will enjoy breakfast in the lodge before being transferred back to the airstrip and flying back to Maun. There you will be met and transferred by road down to the Makgadikgadi Pans, a drive of around two hours to where you will be spending the final leg of your trip. A relaxing afternoon in the lodge will be followed by a drive out onto the pans to enjoy sundowner drinks. (B,L,D) DAY 8: MAKGADIKGADI PANS Today you can enjoy a full day's game drive along the Boteti River, whose lifegiving waters act as a magnet for wildlife from all around this otherwise barren area of Botswana. The guides will take a picnic lunch along so you can enjoy a full day out, spotting the abundant game of the area and taking in the beautiful views out across the flat, stark plains. (B,L,D) DAY 9: MAKGADIKGADI PANS An early morning start will allow you to spend some time with the intriguing San Bushmen who inhabit this harsh desert environment. Learn how they survive by digging for water in the parched earth and make poison for their arrows from the bushes. Discover too how they track their prey through this harsh, unforgiving environment. A relaxing lunch and an afternoon back in camp can then be followed later by a boat cruise along the Boteti River. (B,L,D) DAY 10: MAKGADIKGADI PANS - MAUN After enjoying a final desert sunrise and breakfast in camp you will set off on your road transfer back to Maun, to connect with your onward flight. (B)

ACCOMMODATION KHWAI COMMUNITY AREA SABLE ALLEY CAMP Sable Alley Camp sits on the site of the old Banoka Bush Camp in a superb spot overlooking a lagoon which leads into to the Khwai River. The enviable location opposite the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve means that superb game viewing can be enjoyed during a stay here. The spacious safari tents are all raised up on individual decks looking out across the lagoon allowing for ad-hoc game viewing during the afternoons as animals often pass by the camp. Inside the tents are very spacious and comfortable with beds covered in mosquito nets and fans provided for guests comfort. The well-appointed en-suite bathrooms have all of the amenities one could wish for as well as indoor and outdoor showers. The main part of the lodge is beautifully laid out and overlooks the lagoon, with plenty of spaces for private dining should this be your preferred option. There is a lovely dining room and bar are as well as a spacious lounge where guests are encouraged to relax between game drives and congregate in the evenings to share tales of the day s adventures in the bush. The camp also boasts a lovely swimming pool where guests can relax in the afternoon and escape the heat of a Botswanan afternoon. Game drives are the main activity on offer from Sable Alley, although when the water levels permit they also offer mokoro canoe safaris through the flooded channels to enjoy the superb game viewing that the area offers. MAKGADIKGADI PANS REGION MENO A KWENA This quirky camp is perched on the edge of the Boteti River bordering the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park and offers one of the most unique wilderness experiences in Botswana. Eight East-African style safari tents are delightfully positioned beside the dry river bed each with semi-attached bathrooms including a flush toilet and safari bucket shower. The camp has a real old world safari charm with bags of character. The views from the tents and the lovely plunge pool are spectacular, providing one of the best views over a waterhole in Botswana. Meals are prepared specially for the barbeque and 'tin box oven' cooked on the campfire, adding to the authentic safari ambience. Day trips to the salt pans are a must and in the dry season, it is possible to sleep out on the pans under the stars, which is an unforgettable experience. Game drives, bush walks and cultural excursions are included and the camp is a wonderful place to relax. You don't have to go far to see great wildlife - in fact guests often see more from the riverside at camp than by vehicle. During the summer rains you may even be lucky enough to see the thousands of zebra that gather at Meno before they begin their migration north. OKAVANGO DELTA

MOREMI CROSSING Moremi Crossing is found near the Southern tip of Chief s Island, overlooking the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve. The camp offers lovely views out over the surrounding floodplains and the horizon is studded with palm trees helping to give a feeling of peace and tranquillity to a stay here. The camp is made up of 16 classic safari tents, all of which whilst simple in style and furnishings are very comfortable and welcoming after a long day exploring the delta. The small en-suite bathrooms have running water, with flush toilets and outdoor showers. The large main area of the lodge is an open-sided, thatched roof lounge and dining area which also houses the bar. The decking area surrounding it is a lovely spot to relax during the afternoons and enjoy a good book or just watch the world go by game is often seen in close proximity to the lodge during the afternoons. There are no safari vehicles at Moremi Crossing, so guests can enjoy mokoro canoe safaris, birding trips, motorboat safaris and guided walks. There is also the chance to enjoy wilderness camping on Chief s Island which is a wonderful way to spend a night of your safari. This is a lovely camp and one which works well with some of the camps further North in the delta which offer more vehicle based activities.
