2014 Tournaments European Championships The European championships took place in Davos Platz, Switzerland at the end of March 2014 and was a great success. Grandmaster C.K. Choi 9 th Dan was guest of honour at the tournament with 16 countries taking part over the two days of competition. The TAGB won lots of gold, silver and bronze medals in the individual events and also won the overall best team at the event with Russia coming in a close second. We would like to thank all the TAGB officials who travelled out there to work so hard and the team members of England, Scotland and Wales who also pitched in and gave a hand when they were not competing. A big thank you to all. Clash of the Titans The TAGB team made history this month in Huddersfield when they became the first team ever to win 4 Clash of the Titans events. They dispatched the Warriors team with consummate ease winning 9 fights drawing 1 and loosing 2. The team were simply too good for an ill disciplined warriors team and their even more badly behaved coaches! The officials were all neutral on the night so this was a great victory for the TAGB team who fought magnificently and the support that our team received from TAGB members can only be described as emotional. The squad were: Carl Betty, Joe Schembri, Matthew Jackson, David Hand, Steve Fox, Greg Dunlop, James Watson, Steven Reed, Warren Vice, Jackson White Jnr, Tim Chow, Steven Miller, James McGinn, Basa Ince, Congratulations Gordon Fearn, to you John all Cregg and Tyrrell Belony. Welsh Championships The next event on the TAGB Calendar is the Welsh Championships being held in UWIC, Cyncoed Campus, Cardiff, CF23 6XD. 10am British Championships After receiving feedback from students and instructors, the TAGB Committee have decided to revert back to holding the 2014 British Championships on one day only, Sunday 30th November. We will split the start times to enable the event to run smoothly. Details of starting times will be provided nearer the time. Thank you to everyone for your interest and feedback. We appreciate that it is difficult to suit everyone all the time and the success of the TAGB and our very well attended championships sometimes means that compromises need to be put in place. CONGRATULATIONS GRANDMASTER PROMOTION Congratulations to the TAGB Chairman David Oliver seen here receiving his 9 th Dan Grand Master certificate from Grandmaster C.K. Choi, 9 th Dan in Davos, Switzerland. This honour was awarded by: Grandmasters C K Choi, J C Kim, Sang Min Cho and Woo Yup Yang, all original tae kwon-do pioneers. Black Belt Grading Over 550 students and Instructors took their black belt grading in April this year with a large number being promoted to higher dan grades. Congratulations go to the following instructors who were promoted: To 7 th Dan: Philip Burley and Thomas Coleman To 6 th Dan: Martyn Dipper, Tao Levan, Paul Marsh, Mark Shuter, Miles Lutwyche and Terry Read Congratulations also to all those who achieved 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th Dan. Congratulations also go to Anna Williams of Wirral club for being voted Best Black Belt and Kian Griffin of Pontypool club as Best Red Belt. The next black belt grading will take place at the Bristol Academy over the weekend of 17 th, 18 th and 19 th October 2014. If you or any of your students missed the opportunity to order a photograph of your grading group on the day of your black belt grading then you can still order one until 30 th June 2014.
