Windsor Senior Moments GREETINGS FROM THE WINDSOR SENIOR CENTER Erin Stroud Hello Town of Windsor Active Adults! As our beautiful fall weather draws to a close I want to take this time to thank everyone who came and participated in the Aquatic Program this season. The Senior Center s therapeutic pool is such a benefit to so many patrons individual health goals. I truly enjoy getting to witness the smiles on the faces of those who love our pool and express how it physically and/or mentally helps them feel happier and healthier. We are so lucky to have two (Rene and Alan) amazing Water Exercise instructors and I m already anticipating the pool s opening again next May. I would also like to say thank you to all the volunteers that helped with the Annual Flea Market and Bake Sale in October. Staff and volunteers were blown away by the generosity of all the participants who donated absolutely delicious treats. All the money raised went to the Aquatic Scholarship Program which helps seniors facing financial hardship so they can still enjoy the benefits of our wonderful therapeutic pool. I hope to see you all at the Holiday Dinner this December. Once again we will be served a delicious pasta dish by our own Carla Musso. SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 1. Where were you born and where have you lived? I was born in Albany in 1941 and I grew up in Berkeley. I met my husband Arleigh in high school in Oakland when I was 14. I went to Dominican College in San Rafael and got my degree in Biology and English. Then I went to Cal Berkeley and got a masters in Library Science. I was a school librarian at De La Salle high school in Concord while living in El Cerrito with my family. I have two girls Carrie and Anne. In 1982 we started our family winery called Taft Street in Sebastopol. I then got a job in Calistoga as District Librarian for the whole school district in 1991. I moved to Windsor in 2001 when I retired from Calistoga. I also have a house in Scottsdale for the winters because all five of my grandchildren lived there and I would help take care of them. 2. How long have you been coming to the Windsor Senior Center and what do you like to do here? Julie Sanderson I have been coming to the Windsor Senior Center for 14 years. I like to get in the pool and the hot tub every opportunity I can. I also like to attend the Holiday Dinner and special events that are held here. 3. Have you ever met any famous people? I was on an airplane once with Mother Theresa. I was in line with Keith Richards at the Newark New Jersey airport and I once sat next to Tom Selleck at a Dodgers game 4. What would you say you know now about living a happy life and having a successful marriage that you didn't know when you were twenty? To live in the moment. I am happy wherever I am. I hang on to every friend I have ever had; that makes me very, very happy. Community building is important to me. NEW YEAR, NEW CLASSES!
