GWRRA Texas Chapter P meet the 2nd Thursday of each month at Spring Creek BBQ in Granbury @ 7:00pm November 2009 From the Director Chapter participants and friends; Well it didn t take long for the fall season to set in. What ever happened to global warming? Opp s don't get me started. Turns out we just got through one of the wettest Octobers on record. So what does winter have in store for us? Cold insect killing temperatures I hope! But lets not get ahead of ourselves just yet! Fall is an awesome time to get out and ride, as clean, clear blue skies offer opportunities to get out and enjoy the scenery before the trees drop their leaves. Many riders opt for a ride to Arkansas for this fall fix. Highly recommended, It s a terrific ride, as leaves are peaking now, however our area offers many nice roads and scenery without traveling too far from home. I hope you make some time to get out and enjoy the view! One more thing... Naturally, this time of the year we tend to reflect on the many blessings in our lives. Theresa and I are thankful for you our friends and family for your on going support and encouragement throughout the year! We are all truly blessed! Hear ye Hear ye; Read all about it! New Chapter Educator Revealed! I am pleased to announce Brian Handleson will assume the duties as Chapter Educator. Brian has been an active member of Chapter P and I am excited for him and welcome him as an officer to the staff. Brian has met the requirements and has been approved on the District Level to assist and educate GWRRA members through rider education to enhance our riding enjoyment. Safety Education is the staple of GWRRA and I am confident Brian will put forth his best effort to educate the membership through safety, and enable us to learn, improve and maintain our riding skills. Brian's responsibilities are to you the membership, to promote the Riders Education Program (REP), and promote safety through education. He will contribute articles for the newsletter, and speak at the monthly chapter gathering. Brian has been a licensed motorcycle operator for over 20 years and currently rides a 1200 with a sidecar for Carol. Please congratulate & thank him on his new appointment. 2 RIDE CAPTIANS NEEDED Want to contribute to your chapter? Lead a ride! Do you have a destination you would like to share with the group? Let us know and we will post it on the calendar for you! You don't have to ride alone! The biggest challenge is keeping Carol on the ground while making left turns! Is time running out on your GWRRA membership! Don t be a turkey..by letting your membership expire! Be an early bird and renew today! www.gwrra.org

Chapter Life 3 Feed the Hungry One of the needs facing our community is the lack of food for the less fortunate. Can you imagine going hungry on Thanksgiving? No pumpkin pie? How about giving up a days worth of food to feed another? Would you? GWRRA Chapter P has once again teamed up with the local food pantry to help provide Thanksgiving meals for families in our community who wouldn't otherwise have one. Through your participation of the 50/50 drawing in both October and November, the Chapter will match 50% of the total. Help feed the hungry in our community. Participate, give with a joyful heart, and be thankful! Sonic Challenge The annual Trike & Bike challenge ended in a draw As just as many cars, bikes and trikes showed up on a very cool fall evening at the Sonic in Cresson. The Chapter paid for coffee and lattés for all who showed up. Thanks to Sonic for hosting us again this year and we look forward to returning again in the Spring. Mid Week Ride Trubon Wheeler led a scenic 6 county, 250 mile ride with 3 trikes and two bikes for those of us fortunate to ride during the week! I suggest taking a map with you. He can get you lost! Thanks Trubon! The sun came out as I pulled into the garage! Give us this day our daily bread Just Perfect were the only words to describe two rides on two fall Saturdays in October. Oct 17th Paul led the ride to Clifton for their annual fall festival. Once again, Trubon led the ride home through back roads and twisties. Without a map the others were lost!...not really. I just have to sit down! Paper, rock, scissors to see who leads the ride home!

Chapter Life cont. 4 Robert Adair led a ride to the World Championship BBQ Cook-off & Challenge in Meridian on yet another perfect day for riding! 12 bikes took in this awesome event. What a treat! Literally, If you have never attended one of these events, I suggest packing your mini wipes. You won t be able to sample all the delicious food without blowing a gut! So much fun! Go ahead and count me in for next year Robert. I will be prepared to eat, and eat, and eat some more! You can check out the Chapter P website at www.wingsofgranbury.org Clear blue skies and cool morning temps allowed riders to leather up!! Presentation added to the flavor of the competition at the BBQ cook off! The Texas District Mid Winter Round Up is just around the corner, January 9th in Killeen to be exact. This is not only the District Staff meeting for all Chapter Officers and their staffs, but is actually open to any member who is interested in learning what GWRRA is all about. The Selection for the 2010 Texas District Couple Of The Year will be the Main Event on Saturday evening. Learn more at www.gwrra-tx.org Support your GWRRA Chapter Wear your colors!
