Friends for Fun Safety and Knowledge The Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) is the world's largest single-marquee social organization for owners and riders of Honda Gold Wing/Valkyrie motorcycles -- and some would say, the world's largest family. Dedicated to our motto, Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge, GWRRA members enjoy the freedom of belonging to a not-for-profit, non-religious and nonpolitical organization. Founded in 1977, GWRRA has grown to more than 80,000 U.S., Canadian and international members in 53 foreign countries in just 32 years. Over 800 active Chapters are managed by 4,000 volunteer leaders working with members to foster safe, enjoyable riding while also working to improve the public image of motorcycling.
Ken & Jan Pedder Chapter Directors We had a great turnout for our September meeting. We were joined by a fellow winger, Phil that we talked to at the Poppy Festival the prior year. Roger Taylor from CA1Q also joined us. Both of them accompanied us on our post gathering ride over Highway 2 to La Canada where we wandered through a farmer s market for a while and then went for lunch at Georgee s Pizza. We dined out on the patio and the weather was just right. The food was very enjoyable, and I can see us making this a destination before too long. My thanks to Russ for, again, making a great selection. It was a wonderful day and the ride through the mountains in both directions was the icing on the cake. It is time for me to get busy with some inspection and maintenance on the bikes. We will be doing quite a bit of riding in October with Chapter CA1V s event on the 7 th and the Arizona District Rally starting the 26 th in Lake Havasu. The CA1V event is always fun and relaxed. Hope you folks can join us for this event. It is certainly close enough. The Arizona District Rally is a great event held at a fantastic venue. The rally is wonderful with plenty of activities and things to do at the resort or in Havasu City. Jan and I strongly encourage you to partake in this event I m sure you will enjoy it. We, along with the Harmons, rented a boat last year and spent a good portion of a day motoring about the lake. The WOCA gathering this month was Movie Night at our house. It appears they had a lot of fun judging by the seemingly nonstop laughter. If any of you ladies have an idea for upcoming WOCA gatherings, please voice it to Sandy or Lucy. The whole point is to have fun and make everybody happy if possible! See you out on the road...ride often but ride safe! Ken & Jan Pedder Chapter Directors
Russ Thome Ride Coordinator Hi Gang! Last gatherings ride took us over the Crest to their farmers market then onto Georgies in La Canada. It was a bit on the warm side but we had a smooth easy ride, 4 trikes and 4 bikes if I recall and only a few squirrels to contend with. We had 2 guests with us, Roger from CA1Q and a first timer Phil, who lives North of most of us I believe. Parking was a bit tough at the Farmers market but once we all gathered back together, around 45 minutes was spent browsing around and picking up a few groceries here and there. From there we headed to Georgies for lunch. Georgies is small pizza joint that has been around the area since the early 80's and has a great following. For me the Submarine sandwich was pretty good and prices were fair. There were a couple complaints but I don't think they major. From there, we split up and went a couple different ways home. A few of us, Rick, Jan, Ken, Lucy and I signed up for the Vets for Veterans poker run and car show on the 16th. Started out at Lancaster Harley, picked up a few tag-a-longs and headed out. Again a bit on the warm side but tolerable. There were 7 stops to get cards and a couple spots were real close together so it wasn't worth taking of your helmet at times! Entry was $25 and if you preregistered you got a tee shirt. I was under the assumption that lunch was included but I was mistaken. Your $25 got you poker run entry and drinks and snacks along the way. Still, the money was for a good cause. The car show was ok, a few cars I had not seen before but not too many bikes were there. There was however a Lowrider car show by Palmdale Blvd and 47th street that was interesting, will have to check it out next time. Good Times!! Till next time Russ Thome Ride Coordinator

Mike Ridgway Hello Gold Wing riders. My name is Mike from Chapter Q, and I am here to help if I can. During our trip to Wing Ding in Montana two of our Wings broke down. It cost one rider approx. $1900.00 the other about $2100.00 to get home. This really bothers me to no end! I went out and purchase a Motorcycle / Trike tow unit for my pickup truck. Now I am retired, so I have all the time in the world! I would like to offer to any Winger that breaks down and after using all of their AAA towing benefit s and any other tow services and they still are not home, CALL me and I will go get them FREE, just pay for my gasoline and buy me a hamburger. THANX Mike.
