June and July Excitements We really get off to a great July with 28 attending the meeting. That is a good number considering this is the week that Wing ding is going on in Billings, Montana. We did miss our friends from Blytheville this month. We will have to go over there this Sunday to make sure That everything is okay. Tommy touched base on some of the things that we will be doing coming up in the near future. About the plans for the Christmas Party. We will be hitting the streets looking for donations. We have ask everyone to help us with donations. I know the first year that Wayne and I was in the GWRRA, I worked some long days and after work would go all over town asking for donations. I did get some heated grips from Jonesboro Honda and A bike cover from Paragould Honda. The same year, Jones also got a bike cover from Forrest City and a nice jacket from Searcy. So all you have to do is ask and you will usually get something. Just remember it takes the entire Chapter to make a good rally. The first in the 50-50 drawing was for $15.00 going to Bobby Milligan, second for $12.00 going to Keith Sanders and third for $10.00 going to Gena Myers. Congrats go to them! And a Great Big Thank You to Keith for contributing his Winnings to the Kids Can. That was sure thoughtful of him we gave away a total of 11 door prizes going to Ron Hagan, Jean Cleaves, Amy Brown, Harriet Hagan (2), Jerry Myers (2), Bob Ransom (2), Narine Ransom (2). Thank You to everyone that brought door prizes. Assistant Director Reminds You!! July 3-7 Wing Ding in Billing, Montana July 4 th Holiday Ride to Drasco Trading Post July 8 th Blytheville Chapter W Meeting July 21st, open for someone to plan a ride July 28 th same as July 21st Things are a little slow in July except for Wing Ding, but anyone that wants to plan a Day Ride or an overnight ride, just get it together and let us all know and we can fill this month with something fun to do. August 11 will be the Chapter B Rally in Springdale Then we get closer to our Rally in September and we need help!!! Everyone get on your Thinking Caps because July & Aug is not as active but you can never be bored with GWRRA if you just get into the program. Anything that you may be interested in can be found on the District Web Site with more details on the events. Some of us will be going to most of these and would love your company. We will send out Email to inform you of the time and place to meet as the date approaches. Ride for Fun, Safety and Knowledge. GWRRA offers it all in one package!!! As your Newsletter Editor, I will be sending the letter to your E-Mail address and not through the Stamped Mail. If you do not have an Email address, you will still get it stamped. As advised by the Region Staff Members, this is the way they send their Region News and Chapter News. We have decided to save postage and do as they do!! Also if after we have sent 3 consecutive letters and do not hear from you, We will assume that you are not interested in what the Chapter does and we will discontinue to bother you with the newsletter but will be contacting you to see if something is wrong and we will try our best to correct the matter.

Another Fun Month in GWRRA Well again, June was a very busy month and lots of fun. We started off on June 1 st with a staff meeting at Art and Faye Reese s home in Marmaduke. That was a very pleasant ride and a wonderful meal. We discussed what we were going to be doing and needing for our Rally. Sherry had drawn up some very good T-shirt designs that we would have for riding shirts as well as 2007 Rally Shirt. We all thought she had the perfect design and ask her to go forward with it. She placed an order blank published in the June newsletter for them. The riding shirt has met its deadline but you can still order the Rally Shirt. That order blank will be in this newsletter as well. Then it was on June 2 nd that we traveled to Little Rock Chapter A Rally for a Fish Fry. That was a great meal, but we got a little shower on the way home. This was A s first Rally and really a good turn-out. On June 9 th we headed out for Chapter I Rally in Stuttgart. They had great bar-b-cue meal and lots of good country and western music. You sing it yourself or listen to the others sing. They also had a pretty good turnout. 15 D members, 5 W members and 3 visitors all went together. June 16 th we traveled down to Conway for Chapter L Rally at Toad Suck Park. We had lots of good burgers, dogs, and sausages for lunch. They always have a blast at their gatherings and lots of guest. We had 12 D, 4 W June 23 rd, it was time to go to Van Buren, Wayne and I didn t make this one, but Art reports that they left Marmaduke at 4:15. Had 7 to make the ride. Took in 4 new counties and one new state. Ask Art about the washers??? Until next month Ride safe Kathy and Wayne District Couple 2007-08

I am very pleased as I reflect back on the past 6 months. It has been a period of time that has been filled with activities. There were one paperwork session and three training sessions that was attended by all of the staff. We became acquainted and developed friendships with the staff of the other chapters in Ar. April found us at Morrilton again for the Rider Ed. Weekend. The staff upgraded to a level 3 in the Riders Education Program with Keith Sanders taking a full day s course in Advanced Riding. He deserves a lot of credit for staying with that course. The second weekend in Feb. found us back at Morrilton for the Spring Fling. It was the first time that the Couple of the Year had been moved from the Ar. Rally to a rally by itself. It was quiet enjoyable as our own Chapter Couple, Wayne and Kathy Hall, was honored as the District Couple of the Year. As we moved into the third month of this year we begin attending chapter rallies. There were 10 chapter rallies in 4 months and all but one were attended by some of the staff and a lot of participates from Chapter D, way to go Chapter D. We have gained some new people and they have enjoyed going to some of the rallies. Three of them got a lesson in how to ride in a heavy rain STORM, thank goodness that Joe Shepherd s bike was red. June had two new chapters that had their first rallies and Chapter D was there at them. Twelve Chapter D members attended Region H Rally in Marshall, Texas, Twelve went to the Arkansas District Rally, six went to the Louisiana District Rally and four went to the Missouri District Rally at Branson, Mo. Four chapter members went to Chapter R Rally in West Plains, Mo. We had five bikes and two trikes in the Loose Caboose Festival in Paragould with four trophies being brought home. I am glad to announce that we have had new people to come to our meetings from Jonesboro, Paragould, and West Memphis, Marmaduke, Pocahontas and two visitors from Michigan. We have four members that have come back to our meeting from years past. Chapter Director Tommy and Karen Brown

Educator s Corner Handling special situations and road conditions Copied from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation web site. For other riding tips go to http://www.msf-usa.org/ Remember, always ride safe, Keith and Sherry Sanders Wing-Tip: If you find you have a valve stem leaking you can replace it without removing the wheel from your Wing. First deflate the tire. Turn the wheel to a place where you can reach the stem and use a clamp to break the tire bead only in the area of the stem. Cut the old stem off, lubricate the new stem and insert it until seated. Remove the clamp and inflate the tire to the recommended pressure. Check for leaks with a soap and water solution and you are ready to ride. I was given this tip by Jones Martin. I am always on the look-out for good wingtips. If you have one you would like to share with others just let me know. Ride Safe, Keith and Sherry Sanders, Chapter D Educators

We are busy planning our trip to Wing Ding in Billings, which will be an 18-day western state adventure. This will be our 2nd Billings Wing Ding as we were able to also attend in 2000. The country out west is magnificent and we have planned to see many of the great natural wonders that are available for our enjoyment here in the good old USA. The trip will be made with great friends (Jere & Maurine Pyburn and Bill & Jennie McBride), which will make it even more enjoyable. Several members have stated they are making the trip west to Billings and visiting the surrounding area and western parts of our country. We wish each of them a safe and fun ride. When you return home share your memories by writing an article for your chapter newsletter and share your photos by sending them to our District Webmaster and we will post a scrapbook of photos for all to enjoy. Those of you that have volunteered to help in the goodie booth at Wing Ding are greatly appreciated. Those of you who helped last year know it is not really a job, but a lot of fun as you get to meet so many members from across the country as almost everyone stops at the goodie booth. For those who haven t yet had the experience, we guarantee you will enjoy it. Until next time, ride safe and Ride With Pride. Dale & Carolyn Our Goals Train our members to reduce risk.
