Illinois weather - you just have to love it!! Hello everyone. Just when you think it's warming up, Old Man Winter decides to tell Mother Nature he wants to stick around for a little bit longer. LOL. Spring is around the corner and riding season will be in full force before we know it... During times of yucky weather when we can't ride our bikes, maybe that can give us some time to check over our bikes, give them a good cleaning, check the tires and valve stems, test your CB, check helmets/riding gear, and all the important things that you must do before hopping on and going on that ride! Our Staff has been busy getting our schedule filled for this year and we are looking forward to getting out our motorcycles and having lots of fun rides and events. (YES, there will be lots of restaurants and DQ's on the schedule - Rickey wouldn't survive without those stops, especially the ice cream stops - lol) You do NOT have to be a GWRRA or Chapter member to join us at any events or on any ride. Everyone is always welcome to ride along with us and bring a friend or two!! If you're unable to ride your motorcycle for whatever reason, you can always join us and follow in your vehicle! You won't be the 1st or the last to go in your truck, car, or other vehicle, so please join us at any time... We will be having our Annual Yard Sale on August 11th. This is one of our big fundraisers that benefit the Juvenile Diabetes (JDA) and Relay For Life (ACS). Over the years we have had people thank us for having the sale because they are able to get clothing, shoes and other things that their children can use for the school year and they rely on us to have this sale... It melts our hearts knowing that we can help people out in some way. It may seem small to us, but to some, it is a huge thing to them with us doing the sale... At the end of the sale, we always give away items to anyone that wants them and then we take any leftover items and give them to charities in Litchfield. If you have items that you would like to donate for this sale, please contact Maggie and I will make arrangements to get the item(s) from you. All donations are greatly appreciated!
We hope to see you on some of the rides and at our events throughout this riding season.. Below is just a few of the rides and events that we have planned for March and April. Take care, have fun along the way, but most importantly, STAY SAFE!!!! An update from the District Educator: The year has started out fast. Just waiting on a good rain to get rid of the salt. We have scheduled riding courses in Vandalia and Sterling. In Vandalia we are having a Trike Trailing course on April 21, and a Bike Trailing course on April 22. In Sterling we are having a Bike ARC course on May 5 and a Trike TRC course on May 6. The forms are on the District website under the Safety banner, then to the drop-down box to Rider Educators, then to Rider courses. Scroll down to the course you want to take and print it out and send it to me. You can scan the form and send it or use snail mail. Just be sure you sign the form and send the money with it. Those in the Levels program, for the rider this is part of Levels 2,3 and Masters. For the co-rider, this can replace the co-rider seminar as long as the corider completes the classroom and range exercises, not just one or the other but both. Continue to ride safely and if there are any questions about any portion of the Rider Education programs. courses, seminars, Levels, or patches and bars, contact me. My phone or e-mail is on usually till 10:30pm. If I can t answer the question, I will get the answer for you. The powers to be (Phoenix) are still getting the Rider Education program rewritten.
