Welcome Summer Camp Description Camp at Evergreen Academy offers fun-filled summer programs for children ages 5-12. Each week, campers jump into action, participating in exciting sports programs, exploring nature, becoming involved in performing and creative arts, playing a part in group activities, and attending special events. Our campers have the opportunity to expand their horizons during the summer, embarking on new adventures, and having fun! Our exceptional program and dedicated staff create an environment that forges lifelong friendships among our campers. We create a summer experience that is unforgettable! It all starts with our outstanding camp counselors. A camp is only as good as its staff, and we are extremely proud of ours. Talent, creativity, love of children, leadership and devotion make our camp counselors the heart and soul of the program. We take our camp programs seriously and begin our summer with intensive staff training and orientation. Camp counselors and specialists are doing exactly what they enjoy most: spending a summer inspiring campers to explore, reach for new heights, and expand their horizons. Camp at Evergreen Academy gives you choices. Camp includes five days of activities, from 9:00-3:00. You can choose to add extended hours and specialty camps to your menu of summer fun. We offer a range of outdoor activities, plus indoor activities conducted in our fully air conditioned facility. Our specialty camps are optional programs, operating during regular camp hours, which provide even more choices for unique and exciting adventures. Weekly Destination Camp Themes 9-3:00 Each week campers will engage in unique activities that offer relevant, meaningful experiences that allow them to construct new knowledge while connecting to previous knowledge. Activities provide an opportunity for campers to engage, explore and make sense of the natural world through inquiry and project-based learning. Destination Camp is Designed for 3 rd -6 th Graders WEEK 1 Food Wonderful Food Come help us build grocery lists, grocery shop and make some wonderful food. Visit local farms, and fun restaurants. Enjoy eating your way through the week. Note: Some restaurants may contain allergens. Week 6 Journey into all things active Rock Climbing, Roller skating, Zip Lining and more. WEEK 2 Experience Seattle Visit Seattle Underground, the Great Wheel, Seattle Sculpture Park, Myrtle Edwards Park and many more. WEEK 3 Museums Are Us Explore history each day as we visit the EMP, Museum of Flight, Seattle Art Museum and Pacific Science Center to name a few. WEEK 7 Explore by Land, Sea, and Sky Take a Ferry boat ride, visit tide pools, the Mercer Slough and Snoqualmie Falls to name a few exciting adventures we will explore. WEEK 8 Searching for Sasquatch Hiking in the NW is amazing and Beautiful, Enjoy some local hikes and discover what the area has to offer. WEEK 4 Slip Sliding Away Join us as we jump into the water and visit local beaches, pools and water parks. WEEK 9 Animal Exploration Have you ever seen a wolf up close? Visit local animal havens, NW trek, Point Defiance and The Seattle Aquarium.. WEEK 5 Wide World of Sports Tour our great Seattle team facilities, learn archery and elevate your sports as we jump all day. Discovery camp is designed for Kindergarten 2 nd grade. WEEK 1 Water Water Everywhere Campers will dive into seaside adventures and learn about ocean creatures of the deep. They will also get hands on learning with liquid science experiments. WEEK 2 Astronaut Academy Hold onto your seats as we blast off into space! We will use our creativity and build our own space shuttle and take off into a far away galaxy. We will also explore the moon, planets and stars. WEEK 3 Summer Safari In the jungle, the mighty jungle does the lion sleep at night? Join us as we experience the tropical rain forest and search for jungle animals and birds on our wild trek. Hold onto your hats and binoculars for this wild ride. Closed Monday, July 4 th. Week 6 Time Travelers Through the Decades Come explore the Roaring 20 s, Fabulous 50 s, and Excellent 80 s. We will travel through each decade and study important inventions, as well as historical milestones. WEEK 7 Insect Inspectors Come join us for the inside scoop of some our six legged friends. During the week we will explore the mysteries of metamorphosis while getting some hands on experience bug hunting and investigating. WEEK 8 Science Gurus Practical and fun experimentation and project building send campers home with enthusiasm and the knowledge required to take the sciences further as hobbies. WEEK 4 Crafty Campers It s time for crazy camp crafts. We let campers express themselves through new experiences such as painting on a real canvas, making beads and jewelry and so much more. WEEK 5 Urban Designers Draw. Decorate. Design. Campers will explore a multitude of design challenges, including interior design, architectural design and fashion design. WEEK 9 A Pirate s Life Ahoy and avast, ye lubbers! Campers can weigh anchor from land as they come aboard Captain Gomer s pirate ship with their best pirate garb to help Gomer and his mateys find buried treasure.. WEEK 10 Messy Mixtures and Experiments Messy science experiences are the best kind. Our campers will be surprised to find out what goes into homemade play dough, oobleck, 3D sand painting and more. Specialty Camps 9-12:00 6/20 Mad Science Crazy Chemworks: The wonder of chemistry is revealed as your junior chemist creates surprising concoctions, breaks molecules with ease and shakes up a fun filled day. International Cooking : Cindy Taber: Learn to cook tempting recipes from around the world. Make your own recipe book, learn how to measure, mix and eat yummy food! Camp Broadway: Using popular Broadway hit songs, your child will create and perform a musical revue. Racquet Sports: Learn many different racquet sports including tennis and badminton. Sciensational Workshop: Can you dig it? Join a simulated fossil excavation, uncovering the different bones of a dinosaur. Each child will then assemble the bones to form a completed 3-D dinosaur, read geologist charts, make plastic fossils and everything Dinosaur. 6/27 Skyhawks Flag Football: Flag football is the perfect program for your young athletes who want a complete introduction to America's Game or for those who simply want to brush up on their skills in preparation for league play. Jumpin J s Jumprope: Learn new ways to stay healthy through Jumpin J s Jumprope camp. Students will be taught single rope and partner skills, double dutch, long rope and specialty jumping. In conclusion we will perform a 30 minute show for our families and friends on the last day of camp. Children should bring water bottles, and snack as well as loose comfortable clothing and tennis shoes daily. Bring your own jump rope or borrow from Jumpin J s. You may also purchase a rope for $6. Art: Discover Drawing with Jeanine Lipp: Improve Drawing skills and learn cartooning 7/5 7/11 Art: Famous Artists with Jeanine Lipp: Draw paint and learn the history behind Famous Artists. Jazz Hands Show Choir: Your children will Razzle and Dazzle em with modern kid friendly songs, learning to sing and move as a choir. Developing the Athletic Body: Start young and develop the lasting athletic body through exercise and movement. Sciensational Workshop: Roller Coasters: Learn simple engineering ideas while building a working roller coaster in a group. Coasters will be 3 long by 3 high and have thrilling loops and steep inclines. Children will also be designing other amusement park rides such as a Ferris Wheel, Swing Ride and Octopus Whirl. Skyhawks: Soccer: Using our progressional curriculum, our sport-specific staff will ensure your young athlete will gain the technical skills & sport knowledge required for their next step into soccer. Art: Cool Crafts with Jeanine Lipp: Paper, wood masks toys and puppet art, bring these cool crafts to life. Farm to Table and Beyond: Join us for a fun week of friendship in our garden. Together we will discover where our food comes from, taste fresh vegetables, tend and harvest crops, collect seeds, make compost and explore our natural environment with hands on science based learning. Specialty Camps 9-12:00 7/18 Mad Science: Super Science Sampler: Science comes in all shapes and sizes and we ll examine a few during this hands-on expedition. Assemble catapults, levers, pulleys and simple machines. Arduino Camp: Using a combination of mechanical, electrical and software engineering, learn how to design a interactive seascape using your own Arduino microcontroller. Volleyball: Learn the basics of Volleyball with Mr. T 7/25 8/1 8/8 Crafty Creations: Learn to Do-it-yourself when we make our own sidewalk chalk, watercolor paints, jewelry, candles and more. Stretch our creativity using unexpected items like duct tape, shaving cream and things found in nature. Sciensational Workshop Chemical Magic: Learn to make batteries from fruit and potatoes. Make a fantastic crystal tree. Work with invisible ink and powerful magnets. Be a chemical detective as we make dirty pennies shiny and use paper chromatography to separate color. Pre- Engineering Lego: Build engineer-designed projects such as boats, bridges, mazes and motorized cars and use special pieces to create your own unique design. Scratch Programming: Expand your programming skills or learn the basics of programming through SCRATCH. Children will be able to create games, interactive stories and much more. Skyhawks Minihawks: Ages 5-6 This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun. Skyhawks Multi Sports: Ages 6 and up Our Multi-Sport camp is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports in one setting. For this program we combine 2-3 sports into one fun-filled week. Smart with Art: Abracadabra Art: Prepare to be amazed as we explore optical illusions and artful tricks that fool your eye. With a dash of magic our week will be full of mind bending tricks and fun. Mine, Craft, Build: Jedi Adventure Game: Mine, Craft and build the Star Wars Universe using LEGO. Roll the dice to gather Jedi resources. Then build a pod racer, craft a droid, or create the Treehouse Village of Endor. This novice Play-Well LEGO game is inspired by the Minecraft tablet game and the Star Wars fantasy setting. Smart with Art: Jurassic Art: Dig into the past and discover the prehistoric creatures that roamed the earth millions of years ago. Campers will learn cool facts and create their own version of a fossil. Well dust off our knees as we explore ancient ruins and unfound artifacts that may be hiding. Basketball: Learn the basics of basketball indoor and out. Children will be able to play simple one on one games and activities and culminate with a game at the end of the week Lego Mania: Explores legos and learn how to make mazes, race tracks and so much more. 1 st and 2 nd Grade Preview Camp: Jump into 1 st and 2 nd grade curriculum and meet some new friends through fun educational based activities and games. Specialty Camps 9-12:00 Skyhawks Soccer: Using our progressional curriculum, our sport-specific staff will ensure your young athlete will gain the technical skills & sport knowledge required for their next step into soccer. 8/15 Smart with Art: Glitz and Glamour: Do you love DIY? Then don t miss out on a creative week of do it yourself projects with a glittery flare. Artists will be sculpting their own clay pendants, and one of a kind jewelry organizers. The creativity will be flowing as we glue, nail and build our way through this creative week. Wilderness Camp AM or PM: Come visit parks and trails with Mrs. Loewen. The group will discuss the need to take care of the environment and spending AM Wilderness Full quality time exercising and being in fresh air. Please send students with their own personal backpack with snacks and a water bottle, sun screen and an extra change of clothes. Field trip form will be required and sent to you before the week starts. You do have the option of signing up for the AM or PM class. Ten Minute Fairytale Theater: We will create, rehearse and perform a new fairy tale each day. 8/22 FULL Baking: Cindy Taber: Put on your chef s hat and lets get baking. This week will bake our way into breads, muffins, main dishes and vegetables. We will also touch base on the safety of being in a kitchen and using kitchen appliances. By the end of the week we will have cooked a whole meal! YUMM! Kindergarten Readiness: It s a big step from preschool to kindergarten.
