Tbilisi is the capital of Georgia and a very picturesque and ancient city located on the banks of the River Mtkvari. There is a large number of architectural monuments in Tbilisi. In terms of architecture, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the Narikala Fortress and Metekhi Church are especially noteworthy. The oldest cathedral in Tbilisi - Anchiskhati was built in the VI century, while the Jvarismama church was built in the 16th century. Another cathedral Zemo Betlemi was constructed in the 18th century, as were several other buildings in the historical center. To feel all this, we will start our journey from the old city, observe the Metekhi Temple - a church built in the 13th century. We will continue the way up the cable car to the Narikala fortress, founded in the 4th century AD, from where you can see a panoramic view of Tbilisi and the Botanical Garden. From the Narikala Fortress, stroll down the hill to the mosque and find out the oldest part of the city with attractive houses with open carved balconies. We will continue our trip by visiting the district of the sulfur baths of Abanotubani and listening to interesting legends, about how the city of Tbilisi was founded in the 5th century. Further walk to the waterfall and back to the old part of the city.
The second day - Tbilisi. We will climb the Turtle Lake and visit the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum, located in the Vake district in the central part of the city. On the territory of the museum there are more than a hundred exhibits from all regions of Georgia: authentic houses, outbuildings, utensils, barns, water mills, wine cellars, forges, cowsheds, etc. Officially, the ethnographic museum was opened in the 60s. Visiting the museum, you can reach the Turtle Lake. This is a favorite place for having rest in Tbilisi with families. From here, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Tbilisi from a bird's-eye view. Directly from the lake, the cable car trains, for 6 minutes will bring you down. Further we will climb Funicular on Mount Mtatsminda to the West from the center of Tbilisi, height - 770 meters above sea level. Mtatsminda is one of the most beautiful natural, historical and cultural attractions of the city. It is covered with coniferous forests and looks proudly at the capital. From Mount Mtatsminda there is a beautiful panoramic view of Tbilisi. Observation platforms are arranged here for viewing the panorama of the city. You can go up to Mtatsminda by several transport means, among which the funicular екфь and the cable car are very popular. At Mtatsminda currently operates the largest leisure park in Georgia with attractions, restaurants, cafes, bars and other entertainments. There is also a TV tower. In the middle of Mtatsminda mountain, on one of the slopes, there is a cathedral named after Saint David Gareji. In the courtyard of the cathedral is a pantheon of Georgian writers and public figures, in which the greatest sons of Georgia are buried, including Ilya Chavchavadze, Akaki Tsereteli, Vazha Pshavela, Galaktion Tabidze. In the pantheon also rest the famous Russian writer and playwright Alexander Griboyedov.
Day 3 nd. Mtskheta, Gori Departure from hotel at 8.00 11.00 coffee break (sweets and cakes) Lunch time 14.00-15.00, Georgian cuisine Completion of the tour at 19.00 Mtskheta Mtskheta is one of the oldest cities of Georgia. It is the cultural and spiritual center of the country. We will start by visiting the picturesque monastery of Jvari. From the hill on which the monastery is located breathtaking views on the merging of the two rivers of Aragvi and Mtkvari as well as the Svetitskhoveli Temple, the religious center of the сountry, is opened. After browsing the Jvari Monastry, we will go downstairs towards the Svetitskhoveli Temple, where one of the greatest shrines of the Christian world - the Robe of the Jesus is stored. As well we will visit the Samtavro Temple. In Samtavro there are many sacred objects: a part of the life-giving pillar, the miraculous icon of the Iberian God Mother, the miraculous icon of St. Nino, the graves of the holy kings Mirian and Nana, part of the stone from the grave of St. Nino from Bodbe and other relics.
Gori We will visit the Museum of Stalin - the exhibition is chronologically divided into several halls, in which many exhibits belonged to Stalin, including furniture, personal things and gifts. Uplistsikhe is an ancient cave city, one of the first cities on the territory of Georgia. The city engraved in the rock, emerged at the end of II - in the beginning of I millennium BC, experienced several ups and downs, was finally abandoned in the XIX century and is thus a multilayer archaeological site, one of the most important architectural monuments.
Day4, Ananuri Kazbegi-Juta Departure from the hotel - 8.00 Coffee break, sweets 11.00 Lunch time 14.00-15.00, Georgian cuisine Completion of the tour - 20.00 Night at the Hotel in Kazbegi Ananuri Ananuri is the former residence of the princes of Aragveti. The Ananuri fortress is located on the Georgian Military Road 70 km from Tbilisi, where a small river Vedzatkhevi flows into Aragvi river. Ananuri served as the main stronghold for Aragvi eristavs (lords), rulers of this region. Churches and medieval towers of Ananuri rises majestically above Lake Zhinvali. We will follow the Military- Georgian road to the Cross pass - the height 2395 m., one of the passes on the great Caucasian ridge.
