Introduction Rebuilt in 2008 The New Lowfield Inn is a beautiful country pub and inn set in the heart of the Shropshire / Powys countryside in the small village of Marton. We pride ourselves on using locally sourced produce whenever possible and always have several of the best local ales on tap as well as the best wines from all over the world. There is level access to the bar & dining area and a wheelchair accessible toilet for our customers. We have 4 bedrooms located on the first floor, with stairs to reach them. The nearest railway station is Welshpool, which is 8 miles away. Taxis are available at the station. If you require an accessible taxi this can be booked in advance, see contact information for details. The nearest bus stop is 1 mile from the Lowfield Inn. There is a shelter with seating. The bus can accommodate one wheelchair. The bus runs from Montgomery to Shrewsbury 4 times a day Monday to Saturday at 07.45, 09.51, 13.36 & 17.31. Car Parking Facilities and Arrival There is free parking on site for customers. The car park is situated at the front of the building. There are 24 parking spaces, 2 clearly marked disabled parking space which are the nearest to the entrance. The car park surface is tarmac and well lit at night. There is a drop off point at the front entrance of the building with a dropped kerb. The front entrance door is manual, 1.17m/46ins wide, light to push and opens outwards; we can assist should you need any help to enter the building.
Bar & Dining Area The bar & dining area are situated on the ground floor with level entry from the front entrance. Both the dining area and bar have level access throughout. The bar and dining areas have a sofa and soft chairs, upright chairs, with and without arms, also high and low tables. The dining area has a mix of upright chairs with and without arms. Tables and chairs in both areas are well spaced apart. High tables have a clear height from the floor of 762mm/30ins. Lighting throughout is natural daylight, overhead and wall lighting as well as lamps are used in both areas. Night levels are dimmed slightly and controlled by dimmer switches. Candles are lit on tables in the dining area. The flooring is stone slabs in the bar area and wooden flooring throughout the dining area. Service is usually at the bar, but drink & food orders can be taken at your table on request. We do our best to cater for any dietary requirements; please contact us in advance with any specific requests. Where possible all our food produce is locally sourced. Specials of the day are shown on a blackboard. All staff can assist by running through menus with you. There is background music in the bar & dining area, which also has a TV. The TV only used, with sound, for major sport or other events. Subtitles can be shown on request.
Customer Toilets Customer toilets, including a unisex accessible toilet, can be found either side of the building. There is level access to these from both the bar & dining area. Entrance door to the accessible toilet is 900mm/35.5ins wide and level entry. The toilet height is 500mm/19.10ins. Vertical rails either side of both basin and toilet. Horizontal rail on the side wall adjacent to the toilet. A flashing light when the fire alarm sounds. An emergency alarm pull cord. Well lit with fluorescent overhead lighting and there is a low level light switch. Lever taps on the sink. The other customer WCs have the same lighting, flooring, lever taps as above. In the men s WC there is a lowered urinal.
Accommodation Bedrooms We have 4 modern en-suite double rooms with views over the Welsh and English hills. We can supply a special continental breakfast if you have an early start or we can offer you a full cooked breakfast from 9am if you prefer a lie-in! Two of our rooms have a double sofa bed for use by an assistant/friend or other family member. The height of all of the beds from the top of the mattress to the floor is 610mm/24ins. Rooms are bright and evenly lit. Bedside lamps are also in each room. All of our bedrooms offer the following: Lighting as above, good colour contrast between the floor, walls and doors, short pile carpet, all bedding is non-feather, digital television with remote control, subtitles, and audio description facilities
Accommodation - Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets All rooms have en-suite bathrooms. Door opening to the bathroom is 800mm/31.5ins. The toilet height is 500mm/19.10ins. The wash basin height is 800mm/31.5ins. Lever taps on the washbasin and bath. A grab rail by the bath. Horizontal and vertical grab rails either side of the toilet. Well lit with overhead lights and a fluorescent light over mirror. Good colour contrast between the doors, floor, walls and towels. Non-slip lino flooring. Outdoor Areas There is a patio and large garden, which is used for dining during summer months. There is level access to the patio from the car park and via the restaurant, through double glass doors. The patio area is flat and evenly paved with stone slabs. There is a mix of upright chairs with and without arms. Tables have a clear height from the floor of 740mm/29ins. Chairs and seating can be arranged to suit. There is table service in this area, where staff are on hand to assist. Additional Information We have a set of evacuation procedures; accessibility is taken into account as part of our fire assessment. Should you require assistance someone will come to your table/room and help you with evacuation either out of the building or to a refuge. We have an area where a mobility scooter can be charged. Free Wi-Fi Internet access is available in the bedrooms and throughout the bar. The nearest General Hospital with an A&E unit and walk in NHS facility is 8 miles away.
