Sir George Kingston, later Governor of South Australia, began the project as a port to service the inland areas of the South East. It became ort Caroline when government sanction was given in, before changing its name to Kingston. The port at Kingston contributes to the growing crayfish industry, many tonnes being taken annually to be processed for export. MILLICENT (approx. population,) roclaimed in and named after the wife of an early pioneer, the town is bordered by towering pine forests and lush grazing land. Millicent has developed as a result of the pine milling industry and the two paper mills at Snuggery, south of the township. Sheep, beef and wool production have also contributed to the growth of Millicent.
