MEETING IN TURKEY We took the first picture on the day we left for Turkey, at Venice airport. In the second one there is the view from the Galata bridge at sunset, which we visited on the first day in Istanbul. Then you can see the entrance of the wonderful bazaar in Istanbul, where we went, shopping and bought something like foulards, typical, turkish tea, and spices. In this picture, we were in Sultanahmet square, near the Blue mosque, and this was our first night in Istanbul. The photo that you can see in the middle shows the famous Blue Mosque, that is situated near Sultanahmet square, in the centre of Istanbul. In the last one there is the wonderful spectacle of colours made by a fountain placed in the middle of the square, and in the background you can admire the silhouette of Haja Sophia mosque. The atmosphere was absolutely magic!
On the second day in Istanbul, we went to Topkapi palace, where there were beautiful Turkish artifacts that formed the treasure of the sultan. In the afternoon of the second day we visited the Suleymaniye Mosque. In this photo you can well see the overview of this beautiful mosque. The third day was the day of our departure to Enez, a very small town about five hours by bus from Istanbul. They picked us up in a van and together with the Slovakians and the Czechs we went to Enez, where the Turkish students of the Comenius Project had been waiting for us. The following day we were welcomed with a traditional ceremony in which a group of children, danced Turkish dances in typical Turkish clothes. In the last photo above our teacher of English, Mrs Rita Pirrone delivered a speech in which she presented our school and thanked all the members of the Comenius project for the wonderful experience that we had made together.
In the above picture on the left you can see the five of us, our teachers Mr Alberto Novello and Mrs Rita Pirrone, the headmaster of the High school of Enes, the English teacher Miss Simge Karakas, and the Director of Sudies of Enez.Simge is the coordinator of the project in the Turkish school, but she is only 29 years old and very friendly. In the other photo there are all the members of the Comenius Project in Turkey. The Slovaks, the Italians, the Czechs and the Turkish. In the first picture above all the teachers of the Comenius Project are in the room of the Turkish governor of Enez. In the second one all the teachers of the various countries are with the mayor of the city of Enez on a terrace of Enez Town Hall. In the first photo you can see the photos of the travelling exhibition we had brought to Enez High School from Italy (see also our Exhibition of the Works of.comenius Project Magic Bridges of E.U. 4 6 June 2014, ex Macello, Dolo) In it there were all the materials of the previous meetings in Slovakia and Italy, plus the stories on twelve of our bridges. In the second picture all the members of the Comenius Project are standing in front of Enez High School.
In the afternoon of our second day at Enez, we went to visit the castle of Enez, and above you can see a picture where we are all standing in front of the ruins of the castle. In this picture you can admire the sea at sunset near the hotel where we stayed at Enez, and in the other two photos you can see teachers and students in the middle of the sea as we went on a boat trip and saw lots of enormous, blue jellyfish! This is the photo of the party we had on the evening of the second day, during that night we learnt the typical Turkish dances and we had great fun together. In the first photo we all were in front of the longest bridge of Edirne, quite a big town three hours far from Enez, that we visited on the third day. The second picture shows our group in front of another bridge in Edirne. And in the third one we were on top of this bridge.
In the first photo you can see the interiors of the wonderful Mosque in Edirne, and a picture of us in the mosque without shoes and with a foulard on our heads, according to Turkish religious rules. In the second one we were all outside the mosque. And at the end, the last photo in which we were all in front of Lausanne peace monument in Edirne. In the first picture above you can see the cake that represents all the countries of our project with their flags, Turkish people offered it to us during our last evening in Enez. In the second photo Syou can see the headmaster and teachers of the Enez school and all of us, after the cutting of the cake and Mrs. Rita is holding the piece of the cake with our flag! Then there are our teachers and the headmaster and teachers of Enez High School. Then we took a picture with our friends, after they had given us a present. This is the last photo that a boy took of us when we had just arrived at Venice airport, we were tired but happy because we realized we had had a unique experience thanks to the fascination of Turkey and the kindness of our Turkish friends!
