Inspired by the dramatic cliffs of Antiparos western coast and its privileged views, the residence strikes a perfect balance between architectural statement and discretion. The building has been slightly submerged as to reduce its visible volume and in order to bring all the main living spaces on the same level. Several outdoor areas develop around the residence, creating a variety of environments that are ideal for relaxed island living both during the day or at night: a courtyard to the north is fully protected from the wind, a large veranda is facing southwest and is also sheltered by the house s main volume, and the impressive infinity pool terrace is facing west towards the sublime seascape beyond. is designed by Atelier Bow-Wow, a Tokyo-based architecture practice and longtime collaborator of OLIAROS. The residence s most outstanding feature is the master bedroom, which is situated one level above the main living area and offers show-stopping views to the west and southeast. Additional bedrooms and a guest house can be accessed via the main living area by descending one level down; these two sleeping zones have their own outdoor area, which connects to the upper level via an impressive flight of steps. The steps can also be used for seating, and provide an independent access to the pool area. The auxiliary volumes of have been completely submerged and their rooftops covered with earth and plants, so as to integrate them with the surrounding landscape and protect them from the bright Aegean sun.
