case study SYDNEY EXHIBITION CENTRE glebe island interim facility Project background Construction of the new Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (SCEC) that will open in 2017. Need for capacity to accommodate large scale exhibitions, events, shows and conference before the SCEC is available again. New South Wales Government chose an interim facility to replace the SCEC during the construction period. Key figures Contract signature in June 2013. Scope of Works: design, installation, mantenance and decommissioning of an interim exhibition facility composed of 20,000 m 2 of temporary structures. Installation of the infrastructure divided into 4 connected halls: 3 months. Hall roof and column structure lifted by four 240-ton cranes in an operation that took 8 hours.
