Some of the happy Funds for Farmers Team. Cheque being handed over to Lions Maleny and Blackall Range Club for distribution into western centres before Christmas. Thanks to the musical artists who gave their time freely, to community groups, businesses and individuals for your support. $12,760 was the final figure. Exciting news for the residents of Mapleton, Flaxton, and Montville: a new Lions Club will be formed on your end of the Blackall Range in early 2019. The Maleny Blackall Range Lions Club have been involved in several projects at our end of the Range, and now are sponsoring a new club. Once there are sufficient numbers, the initial Club Branch will charter to become a fully independent club, providing greater opportunity for community involvement and a wider range of local projects. A community information evening at the Mapleton Bowls Club is planned for early next February. For further information about Lions and the proposed new club call Peter on 0434 070 232 What is that flowering tree at Flaxton? Beautiful feature specimens planted along the tourist drive: Thaleropia queenslandica. Tall elegant cone shaped trees currently in full flower. Below, another impressive feature. Library Shay Chair constructed by Mapleton Mens Shed members. Many thanks indeed for this functional, artistic piece to promote the history of Mapleton. Thank you men.

THE BLACKALL RANGE WOODCRAFTERS GUILD INC The Blackall Range Woodcrafters Guild s annual Santa Shop was held at St Mary s Hall, Montville Green on December 1 and 2. A steady stream of people passed through the hall, several purchasing items made by the Woodies. A large number of families enjoyed the cooler evening on Saturday for the lighting up of the tree and for the visit by the bearded gentleman who handed out gifts to the many children. The Woodies also conducted a very popular sausage sizzle which was wellpatronised. The raffle prizes were smaller in size this year, making it easier for the winners to carry them home. All prizes were items made by members of the Guild. Visitors on Saturday included Councillor Jenny McKay, State Member Andrew Powell and Federal Member Andrew Wallace.
