A love story Created fifteen years ago by Dominique Prat, a great fan of Madagascar, the hotel is the culmination of a love affair with the magic of the Grande ïle. The construction of the hotel involved the neighbouring villagers for many long months because the hotel employed them. The hotel is also engaged in the durable development of their environment, their power supplies and their health. Now the love story continues with the acquisition of the hotel by another lover of Madagascar, Sameer Rajabali who is leading the lodge towards a development anchored in nature, great attention to details of the highest quality, and the involvement of the villages on the peninsula. Beaches As it is sometimes difficult to choose, Anjavy Lodge has laid out and cleared the secret paths which lead to the 7 creeks: you will often be alone in this world, facing the Mozambique channel. At most there might be a few fishing boats with triangular sails crossing the horizon to interrupt your gaze. As for the beach, you won t have to look far for it, the coral tsingys border it and it goes all along the lodge... The 200 metre infinity pool is filled with sea water... Can you make a choice for today? The reserve Around the lodge and farther than your legs can take you, extend the 750 hectares of the private nature reserve of Anjajavy. It hosts more than 1,800 vegetal species, mostly entirely local and many medicinal plants. The tsingy, famous ancient coral remains, scatter the forest and overlook the bay. The forest sheltering rosewoods and baobabs is home to many animal species.if you are lucky, the fish eagle of Madagascar will take you to the sea and its coral reef... Birds A paradise for birds and bird watchers alike Many beautiful, rare and endemic birds make their homes in the gardens and Reserve, making it a rewarding place for those of an ornithological persuasion. It is one of the best places to spot the regal Madagascar Fish Eagle, shy Crested Ibis, or rare Madagascar Sacred Ibis. Another frequent visitor to the gardens is the impressive Madagascar Harrier Hawk, which raise havoc amongst the lemurs and smaller birds that live in fear of its sharp talons. Keep your eye out for other birds of prey that visit the reserve, like France s Sparrowhawk and Henst s Goshawk. Even if birdwatching isn t your thing, you can t help but be enchanted by the kaleidoscope of colours and shapes of the Reserve s common birds, from the vibrant Red Fody and Souimanga Sunbird to the exotic Paradise Flycatcher and Sickle-billed Vanga. Most days crowds of jewel-green Greyheaded Lovebirds feed on the lawn while our guests enjoy their breakfast nearby.
