UNGUIDED VISIT OF THE AURIGNACIAN GALLERY (45 mn) Visit our interactive discovery center before or after your visit to the Chauvet cave replica. This allows visitors to contextualize the environment and everyday life of our artist ancestors 36 000 years ago. A short film plunges visitors into the Aurignacian landscape before ushering them into an immersive environment where they find themselves face to face with life-size prehistoric animals. EXHIBITION Of lions and Men The grotte Chauvet 2 Ardèche presents: Of Lions and Men: Feline legends, 400 centuries of fascination, an exhibition inspired by the numerous lions depicted in the original prehistoric cave. For centuries the force and beauty of lions, jaguars, tigers and leopards have influenced the thoughts and beliefs of the different human societies and civilizations that lived alongside them. The exhibition will take you on a journey that will allow you to discover this universal fascination, across Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. You will explore the representations and feline legends of over 170 artistic and ritual objects, from the most prestigious international collections (Louvre Museum, Guimet, Museum, National Museum of Berlin, Quai Branly, Cernuschi Museum ) How to understand the relationship between Man and animal, without coming face to face with real felines? The exhibition will include features several zoological specimens. Exceptionally, a 46 000 year old frozen lion cub will be displayed for the first time in France. Practical information For groups Practical information for group reservations HOW TO MAKE A RESERVATION? Reservations should be made my mail at least 5 weeks before the intended visit date. Mails should be addressed to groupes@grottechauvet2ardeche. com and include the following information: - group name - contact information - number of participants (adults and children) - the preferred date and visit time It is also possible to use the relevant form on our page en.grottechauvet2ardeche.com/groups/ Once your request has been confirmed by our reservations team, you will receive your contract by mail. This will be accompanied by all the relevant visitor information. On the day of your visit, our staff at the group reception desk will assist you with the final formalities. In order to ensure the best possible visiting conditions which will allow you to walk the 400m to the Cave at a leisurely pace, the group should arrive at the reception desk at least 30 minutes before the scheduled visit time. If you wish to have lunch on site, our restaurant offers table service and a menu based on local produce (see details on the adjoining page). GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS Please consult our general terms and conditions of sale for groups and seminars. HOW TO PAY? The total amount due is indicated on your reservation contract. A 50% deposit payment is required in order to confirm your reservation. Payment can be made by check or bank transfer. The balance is to be paid on the day of your visit. In order to facilitate your organization, the number of participants can be changed up to 7 days before the date of the scheduled visit.
