The Kimberley region in the northwest of Western Australia is one of the most remote and unspoiled wilderness areas in the world. It s unique geology, ancient limestone reef and rich Aboriginal culture has fascinated visitors for many years. It is home to some of Australia s most beautiful and rare bird life, diverse flora and exciting fauna. Coates have been running tours to the Kimberley every year since 1986 and we are always redesigning our itineraries to all allow more time in the areas that are less-visited and have the wildlife appeal you have come to expect to see on our tours. On this new tour we will explore the highlights along the Gibb River road and visit the remote Drysdale River Station on the Kalumburu Road where it is possible to arrange an optional flight either to or over the spectacular Mitchell Falls. We stay in permanent tents at El Questro Wilderness Park and enjoy meals in the restaurant. Bird enthusiasts will particularly enjoy our visit to Miners pool (on Drysdale River Station) and Marlgu Billabong at Parry Lagoons Nature Reserve.
