Tales from the Long Rider by Ira Frame, Director Hello Storm Riders, Riding season is in full bloom. Are you ready for it? We have rides going to all corners of the state. That s what the Rooster Ride did this year. It s over now, but if you missed it you can ride with the Rooster again next year. Several new riders got their Rooster names, and a lot of old timers went along to enjoy the ride. If you are like me you are putting the miles on your bike, and that leads to having to service it and, unfortunately, sometimes it leads to repairs. I cannot say enough about getting your bike service done at Fort Thunder H-D. I got the VIP service package when I bought my bike there, and it is paying off. I also recently had the misfortune of a major electrical gremlin taking out my charging system. The techs at FTHD were able to get rid of that sucker and the extended warranty paid for itself. So if you are in the market for a new bike you should think about the VIP service package if you plan on riding a lot like I do. Do you like things that go bang on the fourth of July? If you do you re in luck. To make up for a low turnout for Cabin Fever the chapter is going to sell fireworks at a stand near Moore. We do not have the exact location yet. We will let you know details as soon as we know them. You can help in one or two ways. We will need some help running it the week before the 4 th. Also if you buy fireworks, why not buy them from us? We will have all the info for you by the June chapter meeting. That s all I have for now, so I ll see you on the next ride. Ira (6 flags) Frame Dinner Ride to Joseppi s, Stillwater, April 17 Chapter Meeting, May 11 2 http://www.stormridersok.com.

Dinner Ride to Hideaway Pizza, Stillwater, May 15 We had 16 bikes and 24 people show up for a great ride to eat some wonderful pizza. No cages were involved on this ride. I led with Mike Gaston as mid and Jud Webster doing sweep duties. By Ira Frame, Road Captain We left FTHD heading east on 4 th street to Sooner Road. We rode north to 27 th St. There we went east to Draper Drive. We turned north again to 74 th St, and east to Douglas Blvd., then north to 23 rd St. We went east on 23 rd or Hwy62 to Hwy 177, which we followed north to Stillwater. After getting on Main St, we headed north to 6th St. and west to Knoblock St, then north to the pizzeria. The folks at Hideaway did a special buffet just for us. The pizzas were hot and very tasty, the room was great and the service excellent. We should definitely make a return here. Afterwards several of us stopped at Braums in Guthrie on the way home for dessert. The ride was great and the company even better. See you on the next ride! Ira Lace and Leather By Becky Hammer, LOH Officer Happy Summer! I hope you are enjoying all the riding you can handle. There isn t much going on with LOH right now. We are working on a few projects and we will let you know more at a later date. No LOH meetings are scheduled at this time. Summer is here and I know you all are doing a lot more riding. Please be safe and watch out for other riders and drivers, as they really don t watch out for you. Be safe and ride lots. Be Safe and Ride Hard, Becky Hammer, LOH Officer (Hootie) Message from the Safety Scout by Mike Austin, Safety Offi- Well, sooner or later time catches up with all of us, and before you know it, it s time for a new set of glasses or contacts with a new prescription. When that happens to you, don t just jump on your bike and fly away. If you re like me, you may need a little time to acclimate to your new lenses. Make sure you are judging distance well before hitting the roads hard. Always think safety to get home safely. 3 http://www.stormridersok.com.

Dinner Ride to Smokin Joe s, Davis, May 7 What was the route: From Ft. Thunder we went north on Telephone Road to 4 th Street then turned east. At Tower Drive we turned south and merged onto Broadway. We took Broadway south to Franklin. At Franklin we went east to Sooner, and then took Sooner To #9 east. From there we followed #9 to 177. We rode 177 south to HY 7, turned west and rode HY 7 into Davis. We then rode south on HY 77 to Smokin Joe s BBQ. Road Captains: Lead Mike Austin, Mid Ray Sarchet, Sweep Larry Burgess How many went: 35 members and 2 guests on 28 bikes and 1 cage. How the weather was: Mid- 90s, clear skies, and a bit windy. Menu favorites: BBQ, ribs, pulled pork and sliced beef. Worth a return trip: Sure...just be sure and have an appetite when you get there. Incidents that made this ride memorable: Combine warm weather and 110 mile ride with BBQ, and look how many Storm Riders turn out for a great ride! This was the largest ride I have been on in a while, we took a short stop in Asher for 10 minutes after about 60 miles. Mike Austin Road Captain The ride was great but the line was long at Joe s. It took about an hour to get everybody s order in. After ordering, we found a spot wherever we could. Our table had a good time while waiting for our meals. For some reason everybody got quiet once we were served. After eating everybody strolled on over to Cave Man Cycles next door and checked out the antique Harley-Davidsons Hummers. Jud got real excited when he saw the 1962 Pacer they had. 2011 Officers Director: Ira Frame storm_rider@cox.net 405-329-1424 Assistant Director: Rick Marinelli rmarinelli@cox.net Secretary: Irene Cantu cantu.irene@att.net Treasurer: Colleen Smith pickles2832@yahoo.com Membership Officer: Diana Hansmeyer hdladyrider2@yahoo.com Activities Officer: Brenda Stutterheim stormridersok@cox.net Safety Officer Mike Austin mgaokc@goevans.com Webmaster: Monte Stutterheim stormridersok@cox.net Ladies Of Harley Officer: Becky Hammer mbhammer@cox.net Editor: Linda Webster linwebs@gmail.com Historian: Lynn Cavin okcpony@swbell.net Co-Photographers: Jud Webster judwebshd07@gmail.com Ronnie Frame rinkyframe@cox.net Road Captains: Head Road Captain: Ray Kubiszewski rayzor0102@yahoo.com Lee Allen n5kxi@sbcglobal.net Mike Austin mgaokc@goevans.com Dave Bergman davebergman@swbell.net Larry Burgess larryburgess@att.net William(Flood) Collins flood.collins@cox.net Gene Dutton duttonnv@cox.net Mike Gaston j.gaston@cox.net Brad Nelson kj0w@sbcglobal.net Ray Sarchet rsarchet2@cox.net Jud Webster judwebshd07@gmail.com Troy Williams twilliams3964@gmail.com 4 http://www.stormridersok.com.
