Please complete one form per child. Please also take note that the costs per term are fixed, and are payable in advance by direct debit. Therefore, should your child choose not to travel on any day, you will still be charged accordingly. If your booking is for the Paisley or Motherwell service please contact the operator direct.

Our School Operators SilverFox Buses Tower Garage Ferry Road Renfrew PA4 8SH Tel: 0141 886 4134 SilverFox works closely with Hutchesons to provide buses to and from home and also supplies the shuttle bus that transfers pupils between Kingarth Street and Beaton Road during the school day. SilverFox buses are used for many school trips and camps. SilverFox also provides a bus for the Paisley area. However, this is run independently from the school and you should contact Morag Whelan on 0141 889 4242 or e-mail moragwhelan@aol.com to book a place on this bus service. Clan Travel Clan Travel independently run the service to and from the Motherwell/Hamilton areas. This is an established service, now in its 17th year of operation. Please contact them direct regarding booking a place on this service. dgregdoc@aol.com or telephone 01698 833299 or 07803 052646. School Contacts Queries regarding the Hutchesons bus service should be directed in the first instance to the Transport Co-ordinator. Please email transport@hutchesons.org Frequently Asked Questions Do the buses run every day? Bus services begin on the first whole day of the session (Wednesday 23rd August 2017), and run every day when Junior and/or Senior pupils are at school. The exceptions are the Entrance Exam Day and Founders Day when there will be no school transport. On the following days, the afternoon service will run at 12.10pm from Kingarth Street and 12.20pm from Beaton Road; 20th December 2017 29th March 2018 26th June 2018 Are pupils supervised before the departure of the afternoon bus? Junior School pupils are marked onto their bus, by register. If they are not going to be travelling on their allocated day for any reason, you must let us know that same day by emailing transport@hutchesons.org even if you have already notified the driver. It is the responsibility of the Senior School pupils to get themselves onto the homeward buses.

Do I need to let the school know about absences? Yes. It is VERY important that you let the school know as soon as possible that your child will not be travelling home on the bus. If your child uses one of the independently run buses (i.e. Paisley or Motherwell/Hamilton), you must still let the school know separately that they will not be travelling. Failure to do so results in us searching for your child and delays the buses leaving school. Where does my child get off the bus? Please note that the bus drivers cannot take responsibility for ensuring children get off the bus at the correct stop. We would therefore suggest that an older sibling or friend accompanies a younger child until he or she is confident and sure of the stop to be used. Any child found to be on the bus at the end of the route will be taken back to school and kept until collected by a member of the family. What happens if my child misses the bus home? If your child misses the bus at the end of the school day, he or she should go to the closest school office or find any member of staff and tell them what has happened. If we know your child has missed the bus home, we will try and contact you as soon as possible for you to come and collect them. Who monitors behaviour? It is a condition of travelling on the school bus that the enclosed behaviour rules are observed at all times. Any pupil who acts in an inappropriate manner will not be allowed to use the bus service. In particular, all pupils MUST wear the seat belts provided during the journey. Please note that school buses are not supervised (with the exception of the school bus from Kingarth Street to the Mearns area) and the school cannot accept responsibility for children until they reach their classrooms. Concerns about behaviour should be passed to transport @hutchesons.org or your child s teacher. What happens to lost property? Please contact the bus operator directly if an item is left on a bus. All the drivers regularly check their buses and items can usually be found quickly and handed into Reception. These will then be passed to the lost property department. Can my child take a friend home? Due to the nature of the service we are offering, unfortunately this is not possible. How does my child travel home after Games/After School Activities? All children must make alternative arrangements if they have activities on after school. Games Days for senior school children are as follows: S1 - Thursday S2 - Tuesday S3 - Monday S4, S5 & S6 - Wednesday Are refunds offered for unused journeys? Unfortunately we cannot make refunds for unused journeys. What are the adverse weather arrangements? Snow, high wind and serious road accidents can impact the bus service but rarely cause it to be cancelled; it is essential that you keep Hutchesons updated with your mobile telephone number so that you can be contacted at short notice.

Rules for pupils It is essential that you always act in such a way as to ensure your own safety and that of all other pupils using the buses. In particular, please note the following: You must not run or push towards the bus as it approaches; this is very dangerous and greatly concerns the bus drivers. The potential for an accident involving a moving bus is obvious. You must not push each other, shout out or generally misbehave. You should enter the bus slowly and carefully and sit down immediately. You must remain in your seat at all times with your seat belt fastened. Never walk up and down the aisle while the bus is moving. Do not kneel on your seat or talk to pupils behind you. You are only safe when you are sitting in your own seat facing forward, with your seatbelt fastened. You must not distract the driver by talking to him while he is driving. You must follow any instructions the driver gives you, without questions. Talking on the bus is permitted, but you must not shout or make excessive noise on the bus. You must not eat or drink on the bus. It is unfair and unacceptable that the driver should have to tidy the bus at the end of the journey. No litter is to be left on the bus. Mobile phones should only be used to make contact with a parent/guardian. School bags, sports bags etc should be placed on the floor (but not in the aisle) to avoid damage to upholstery on the seats. All these rules are designed with two aims in mind your personal safety and the safety of every other boy and girl. If you are found to have misbehaved in any way you will be treated in the same manner as if you had broken any other school rule and may be excluded from using the service for a time. On the other hand, if you are concerned by anyone else s behaviour, it is essential that you tell someone about it as soon as you reach school, so that we can do whatever is necessary to ensure that the rules are followed by everyone. We need your help to ensure the safety of all bus users.

Terms and Conditions It is a condition of travelling on the school buses that the following are acknowledged: All children must read the rules for pupils. Seatbelts must be worn for the duration of the journey. Persistent offenders will be excluded from using the bus service. Hutchesons cannot accept responsibility for children until they reach their classroom. Bus drivers and Hutchesons cannot take responsibility for ensuring children get off the bus at the correct stop. Hutchesons and the bus companies cannot take responsibility for any property left on the buses. Many items will be returned to Lost Property at either Kingarth Street or Beaton Road. Please check there, or contact the bus provider directly. Parents of Junior School pupils must email transport@hutchesons.org if their child is absent that day for either journey. Pupils must arrive at their pick-up point at least 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Charges for the bus service will be made termly in advance. No refunds will be given for unused journeys.
