LRCCC NEWS Autumn Newsletter October 2018 An Autumn Message The Birthday Rally over the August Bank Holiday weekend was a great weekend, even though the weather wasn't kind, we still had a wonderful time. Huge thanks to everyone that helped. It was lovely to see so many BL members there helping us celebrate. With 147 units, many from our sister clubs across the association, turning out to support us. Both nights of entertainment from Craig Halford and Rang-a-Tang were really good with the dance floor packed all evening. The AGM weekend saw the end to our fundraising year and I was very proud to present a cheque to Macmillan for over 6000. Thank you everyone that donated, this money will help people with cancer and their families. It was lovely to see so many members supporting the club at this year's AGM and the current committee all agreed to stand again. I am very pleased to be working with them all again and hope we continue to do a good job for the club. Brian Homer decided to stand down as President, I would like to thank him for all his hard work over the last four years. Congratulations to Jim Clarke on his appointment as our new President. Julie Derbyshire. Chair.
Rally Reports Help!! You guys run some brilliant rallies on behalf of our club. I would love to tell everyone about the fun and laughs you all have and encourage more people to join our rallies in the future. But I can t do that without your help. If you run a weekend or holiday rally, or have attended a rally that you really enjoyed and want everyone to know about, drop me a message via email or FB messenger. I would love to hear from you and I will include your rally report in the next newsletter. Stourport Vintage Steam Rally This was a great weekend, lots to see and do all weekend, the caravans where just a short walk across the road from the Steam Rally, live entertainment both nights and of course beer and cider tents. Lot s to see and do all weekend, from exotic animals walking amongst the caravans to the younger club members playing and building a camp down by the stream at the bottom of the field. We loved it so much we have booked it again for next year. Sandhills, Isle of Wight Another brilliant year on this lovely island, it was certainly a hot one, even the sea was warm this year and the beach was lovely and sandy. Good to see people taking advantage of the cheaper overnight ferry options and making use of the night halt. A perfect holiday location for all ages. Camping La Clairiere, France We enjoyed three weeks of some really hot weather this year, the Lagoon on the caravan site was a winner with everyone. The surrounding area was stunning with some fantastic scenery and well worth a visit. We will certainly be going back to this area in the future.
Globe Vale, Cornwall As this was the first holiday rally that Andy & I have ran we were obviously a bit apprehensive about it - we needn t have been! We had a great holiday near Redruth in Cornwall at the same time as thoroughly enjoying running the Rally. The site facilities were spotlessly clean and it has a really nice bar/restaurant, plus there are so many lovely places nearby to visit. The weather varied between beautiful sunshine to gale force winds and rain on occasion. The Rally field was full of entertainment and fun with so many people making wonderful memories. Special mention has to go to the Globe Vale Tavern (a gazebo with a dart board in it!) This was host to a lot of social events - not all were planned! But all were great fun. Mine & Andy s favourite moments: Andy Bunn s great curry night and Carol for her attempts at mastering the segway hover board The Holt family for consistently entertaining us with their disasters & family feuds. The roast pork bap night thanks to Andy B and Wayne. The darts knock outs, with congratulations to Scott for taking the trophy during the first week and special appearance by Carl the Power Griffiths - sponsored by Anusol. John Sharman for providing the music at every opportunity Mark & Sharon for being great sports and photographing everything! LRCCC 45th Birthday Rally, Ludlow Well what can we say, Eighteen months of planning seemed to have worked and an amazing bank holiday was had by everyone judging by the comments to us and on Facebook since. Three nights of great entertainment had the dance floor full every night, the chips and curry sauce in the evening went down a storm with us selling out every night and whilst the weather tried to get the better of us on Sunday, the day went better than we could have hoped for with a last minute change of plans and moving inside. To top it all off, we raised more than 3000 over the bank holiday weekend for our charity McMillian. Thank you to everyone that attended (we had 147 units out) and for making it a rally to remember for years to come.
Alverley Social Club What a fantastic venue for a relaxing weekend rally. Three lovely pubs in the village, all within easy walking distance of the rally field and all serving food. Plus the Social Club for our evening entertainment.. The weather over the weekend left a little bit to be desired, but we didn t let that dampen our spirits. We are looking forward to visiting again next year. AGM Rally Where do we start? Thank you to everyone that came to support our AGM weekend, we had a brilliant turn out once again and the sun came out to play. Friday kicked off with the final fund raising activity of the year for our chosen charity, MacMillan. With a coffee afternoon, many members donated cakes and all proceeds went towards our final total. On Friday night everyone was able to meet up with friends old and new. Catching up on the latest news and gossip, generally having a good laugh with good friends. With music provided by Jake and our charity cheque hand over to MacMillan Our AGM was held on Saturday afternoon, one of the quickest meetings we have ever had. Once again, thank you to everyone that came to support the meeting. The Committee have all agreed to stay on for a further twelve months and Jim Clarke was elected as Club President after Brian Homer stood down. On Saturday evening we were entertained by the magnificent duo Brotherhood. Riverside, Bridgnorth The sun came out to welcome everyone to another well supported rally at Riverside, Bridgnorth. Many enjoyed the walk along the river into the town on Saturday to visit some of Bridgnorth's lovely pubs and shops. We were entertained in the party tents on the evening with Lee's bingo and quizzes and then the night was finished off with 'indoor Molkky Skittles'. Another great rally at one of our favourite venues.
