The Vair Fax From the Editor We had another great Vairs at the Fair last month, and we have different locations for our upcoming gatherings for the next three months. If you can make it, the Tybee trip will be nice and relaxing. For December, Lillian and James always do a wonderful job of hosting our Christmas party. Finally, I know I m looking forward to seeing Clay Grant s new play in January. I hope to include more pictures in the next newsletter. This month there was so much to cover, I ran out of room. But, a busy club sure beats one with nothing going on. If you have anything to submit for the newsletter, please email it to 66corsa@cox.net, or mail it to: The Vair Fax c/o David Clamp 212 Old Bridge Road Warner Robins, GA 31088 Officers for 2013: President: Joe Gleaton (478) 731-4792 rhondagailjwg@gmail.com Vice-President: Billy Bruce (770) 631-2976 willydos@aol.comt Secretary: Heidi Clamp (478) 955-5520 66corsa@cox.net Editor: David Clamp (478) 954-6495 66corsa@cox.net Treasurer: Lillian Law (229) 883-4123 Lawjandl@aol.com Webmaster: Brian Wilson Inside this issue: Officers 1 From the Editor 1 Future Meetings 2 Birthdays 2 Local Cruise-Ins 2 Advertisements 2 Upcoming Events 3 Swap Shop 3 Vairs at the Fair, Tybee Update, Maggie Valley 4 December Directions 5 January Directions 6 Corvair Lovers Holiday Registration Form 7 PAGE 1

OCTOBER MEETING MINUTES - LILLIAN LAW October 4, 5, 2013: This year s Vairs at the Fair had a few new things. Twenty people that came on Thursday enjoyed a Pizza party Thursday night. I heard a few comments suggesting a pizza party should become a part of the weekend. Friday night we had our usual delicious spread. We were entertained by my nephew Eddie Icard and his friend Dan English, along with Billy Cannon from Vulcan Corvairs. Billy sounded like he had been playing with them a long time. They played and sang a lot of the old songs. Eddie collects and repairs guitars and sends them to our troops overseas. A few years ago one of his friends asked if he could send a guitar to him and his buddies. That request has evolved into more than 30 guitars being shipped to our troops. They are shipped through Hearts to Heroes. This group collects many things and ships to our Troops. We donated the proceeds from our 50/50 drawing. Billy Bruce won and donated his half also. This is the second time we have donated to this group to help with shipping cost. Several people made donations in lieu of buying 50/50 tickets. $240.00 was given to them. Richard Jenkins surprised Sara with a birthday cake; he did not tell us how old she is. We all enjoyed the beautiful cake and are so happy Sara is doing well. We had 30 Corvairs for the parade including 3 Rampsides, a shorty Rampside, 2 Greenbriers, a Corvair powered Dune buggy and an Ultravan. The Corvairs draw a lot of attention and they look so good lined up for the parade flying the flags. Parades are always exciting as we watch the children waving and scrambling to get the generous amount of candy thrown to them. Thank you Joan Couch for suggesting the Catfish and Shrimp dinner for Saturday night. It was a big hit and we ladies liked the fact it was delivered to the dining room. A good weekend, lots of laughs with our long time attendees and some new faces. Hope to see everyone back next year. Thanks to everyone that attended and helped make this a fun event. We have received thank you notes from Hearts to Heroes and from Eddie. TYBEE DETAILS Our November meeting will be on Tybee Island, just a fun trip for anyone that wants to go. Drive your Corvair if you like but water pumpers are accepted. Motel is The Dunes Motel, 1409 Butler St.; rates are $49.95 for a room with 2 queen beds. Cancellation is 3 days in advance, it is a small motel so please call early. There are many other motels go to www.visittybee.com if you miss this one or prefer to stay somewhere else. Tybee is a small place. The dates are Nov. 8-9. VAIR'S IN THE VALLEY OCTOBER 11-12 2013 MAGGIE VALLEY, NC - AL HILDERBRAND It was a beautiful weekend in Maggie Valley. Paula and I were joined up on a mountain top by Eleanor and Billy Bruce. Also at the show from CAI was Sharon and Keith Burkingstock, Louise and Keith Henline, (they also played host), from the area Chuck Wofford and Buddy, the Andersons from Gainesville. Attending were folks from AL,FL,GA,KY, OH,NC,SC and VA. A parade through town on Friday night, then dinner hosted by NC Mountain Corvairs. Saturday morning started off with a great breakfast provided by NC Mountain Corvair and then on to the show and some good old visiting. Saw many old friends and we made some new ones.. A good time was had by all... PS: Bill and Eleanor's 63 Black Rampside was Best of Show... I've never seen so many Early 4 doors at one show... Chuck and Buddy did make it home OK. PAGE 4
