In 1969, he left Omaha and spent 12 years in Dallas Texas as a national sales manager for the overhead door corporation, and then moved to Santa Rosa California in 1981, where he owned and operated The Overhead Door Co. of Santa Rosa for 17 years. Robert loved his Model T Fords and was a founding member and past president of the Redwood Empire Model T Club. Robert is survived by his wife Audrey Butler of Paradise, CA. Son Michael Butler of Atlanta, GA; Daughter Christy Neely of Paradise, CA Son inlaw Tim Neely. Many of us in the Model T Club have fond memories of Bob. He was a sweet guy and fun to be with on tours both local and National. Until his health failed, Bob and Audrey participated in all the T. Club activities. Officer Sloate emphasized three main points: 1. Placarding is for vehicles that don t exceed 25mph. 2. If traveling slower than the posted speed, and 5 vehicles or more are following you, when safe you must pull to the right and let them pass. 3. If traveling slower than the flow of traffic, within the legal limit, drive as far to the right as possible. Model T questions from club members brought the following replies: If it wasn t on the Model T originally, it is not required: Not required: windshield wipers, seat belts, rear stop light Required are: rear view mirror, and 2 side mirrors, a seat belted child safety seat (if under 8 years old or less than 4 9 tall). Under safe conditions, shoulder driving is permitted over a solid white line, but not a double solid white line, and never over a yellow line. Freeway driving is okay if in far right lane. Be as visible as possible: reflectors and RED or amber lights permitted-no white lights on the rear of the vehicle. Trailer weight is a combination of the three not to exceed 16,000 lbs. gross under class C license; and trailer brakes are required at 3,500 lbs. gross.
