The would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the President of the Republic for the historic decision of the National dialogue that is geared toward finding a lasting peace to the people of South Sudan. 2. We remain hopeful that peace, security and stability of the country are still within the reach of the people through their government and its partners. 3. Given the slow pace of the process of the National dialogue, his Excellency the President of the Republic promised the people of the Republic of South Sudan on two different occasions, first on the day of National Prayers celebrated on the 10 th March 2017 and on the launch and swearing ceremony of the members of the National dialogue steering committee on 22 nd May 2017. 4. First he had this to said on 10 th March 2017, "I did not come to speak politics. I have come to pardon Gen. Elias Waya and Gen. Andrea Dominic, any other political detainees, I will go to prison and I will release them all tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. 5. His Excellency the President had this to say on 22 nd May 2017 as a gesture of good will and in the spirit of the National dialogue, I have directed my Prosecutor general to review cases of people who have committed crime against the state popularly known as political detainees 6. We are dismayed that no credible action has been taken in this regards to release well known political prisoners or detainees in the country. 7. NCRA expressed outrage on the slow pace by the government s concern institutions to translate the President s words into credible action in order to build and consolidate public confidence around this noble initiative of the National dialogue. 8. This will raise the questions of who is in charge of government policies when these officials show intransigence and reluctance to implement his Excellency the President s directives? 1
9. We call on the public to report to NCRA any citizen that was arrested by any organized forces using the email and the telephone number below; be it National Security Service, Military Intelligence, Police or CID department or the prison services. Please give their full names, the state they are from, date of arrest if known, agency holding him/her, his/her current known detention location, indicate his/her gender. 10. Immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners will go a long way in supplementing the National dialogue. We expect the Sub-Committees to be visiting their respective states and this issue is expected to be a stumbling block for their conducive engagement with citizens in all the states. 11. NCRA urge the National Dialogue Steering Committee not to relent in this endeavor. 12. We remains seize of the matter and will engage all the stakeholders to see the directives of His Excellency the President are implemented in letter and spirit. 13.
