Day 1 08-02-2016 Travel time 1 hour Distance: 45 km Windhoek Airport Windhoek On the first day We will pick you up from the airport and then transfer you to Windhoek. We will discuss the itinerary; get fully briefed on the vehicle and camping equipment. We will then do the last minute grocery shopping. First overnight accommodation will be determined according to your wishes. This will be either in Windhoek or just outside Windhoek in the surrounding areas. After shopping, the entire afternoon you will free to rest or visit the city of Windhoek. Day 2 &3 09 & 10-02-2016 Travel time 6 hours Distance: 358km Windhoek Namib Naukluft We will depart Windhoek and head towards Sesriem, travelling mostly on gravel roads. On the first day of the expedition you will certainly get to see and enjoy Namibia s beautiful landscape with mountains and contrasts. We will arrive at our campsite in Sesriem in the afternoon. Before dinner we shall visit the Sesriem Canyon. The next day we wake up early to catch the sunrise at Sossusvlei which is a salt & clay pan surrounded by high red dunes, which is regarded as the highest sand dunes in the world. On the way back we will reach the top of the highest of these dunes- Dune 45. The first night we plan on camping at Sesriem which is the closest camp to Sossusvlei and Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world. This way we are also close to Walvis Bay. Day 4 & 5 11 & 12-02-2016 Travel time: 6hours Distance: 374 km Sossusvlei Walvis Bay-Swakopmund We continue travelling on gravel roads in the Namib Desert, heading towards Walvis Bay via Kuiseb & Gaub passes. We will be able to see desert wildlife such as Ostriches, majestic Giraffes and sand loving Gemsbok. Since the main aim of this expedition is to explore the Namibian wilderness trails, we will then focus on places other than the most popularly seen attractions. We will begin with places such as Zebra Lord, where we will encounter desert animals. Swakopmund, beautiful town characterised by colonial buildings, we will be able to see the museum, National Marine Aquarium, Snakes Park or partake in an unforgettable cultural excursion with Hafeni Tours Day 6/7 13 & 14-02-2016 Travel time: 4hours Distance: 240 km Swakopmund Damaraland Before we proceed with the tour, we will spend the morning walking in town of Swakopmund buying souvenirs, for those who want to carry Namibia home or simply spend the morning at your own leisure. The journey will then continue, driving on a salt road along the Atlantic Ocean coast. Our first stop will be at the place near Henties Bay, where we can explore historic rusted shipwrecks. This is a sign that we are now on the Skeleton coast, which is the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean coast of Namibia & south of Angola from the Kunene River flowing south to the Swakop River. The next stop will be at Cape Cross, the name derived from two crosses raised here in 1486 by the Portuguese seafarer & explorer Diago Cao. Cape cross is located between the two coastal towns of Swakopmund & Henties bay. Cape cross is also home to the largest breeding colony of these seals on the planet, with at times up to 200 000 seals present. Leaving Misty Coast and depart to Damaraland passing by the small town of Uis, a former mining town, whose inhabitants worked in the nearby mine and since the closure in 1990, the town population has depopulated. On the way we will pass by a typical Herero village. These people eradicated in 1904 when they rebelled against German colonial rule. Another attraction in Damaraland is Bushmen petroglyphs. Bushmen paintings/ rock engravings have been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. We can also visit the Damara village.

Day 8 15-02-2016 Time: 6h Distance: 244km Damaraland Kaokoland (Opuwo) Kaokoland is one of the last remaining wilderness areas in Southern Africa. It is a world of incredible mountain scenery, a refuge for the rare desert dwelling elephants, black rhinos and giraffes and the home of the Himba people. Although it is harsh and offers little respite at midday, the rugged landscape is especially attractive during the early morning and late afternoon when it is transformed into softly glowing pastel shades. The topography in the south of the area is characterised by rugged mountains which are dissected by numerous watercourses, but north of the Hoarusib River the scenery is dominated by table-top coppices. Still further north, the Otjihipa Mountains rise abruptly above the Namib floor to form the eastern boundary of the Marienfluss, while the west of the valley is defined by the Hartmann Mountains. The Marienfluss valley is very scenic and relatively greener than the Hartmann's valley. Hartmann's valley is closer to the Atlantic and yet much more arid. However, it does have a strange atmosphere when the sea mists drift inland. In the morning we will drive to Opuwo, the capital of the Kunene Region and Kaokoland. We will visit the Himba, a semi-nomadic tribe, living in scattered settlements throughout the region. They are characterized by their proud yet friendly stature and the women are noted for their unusual beauty, enhanced by intricate hairstyles and traditional dress. We will learn about their marriage customs, traditional food and the mysteries of the 'Holy Fire' religion. Follow black rhino cow and her calf in typical Damaraland 'melkbos' terrain. Together, Damaraland and Kaokoland are known as the Kaokoveld. Highlights of the area include: The Brandberg, Twyfelfontein, Spitzkoppe, The Petrified Forest and The Vingerklip. In addition to the incredible views, Damaraland is home to many animals, which still reside in the wild without any human control. Day 9 16-02-2016 Travel Time: 3h 178km Kaokoland (Opuwo) - Epupa Falls The route to Epupa Falls includes spectacular landscapes, baobab trees and Himba Villages, which we can also visit, as they differ then the ones at Opuwo region. Epupa Falls - a series of cascades that drop a total of 60 m over a distance of about 1.5 km, reaching a maximum width of 500 m. Nowhere else in the world you can find a waterfall contrasted with such wild, arid desert landscape and is likely to make up one the most beautiful and memorable experiences during your trip to Namibia. Other possible activity in it s a guided (at your own expenses) or unguided walk: offers superb photographic and bird watching opportunities. Our camp is next to the Kunene River and falls will be heard through the night. Day 10, 11 & 12 17, 18 & 19-02-2016 Travel time: 8h Distance: 527km Epupa Falls Etosha National Park After breakfast we will proceed to Etosha National Park where we enjoy our first game drive. On our way we stop in town of Outjo for a small shopping. We will spend our days in Etosha on exceptional game drives through the park as well as resting by the pool in one of the camps. The game viewing in Etosha National Park is excellent - we can expect to see elephant, giraffe, rhino, lion and many buck species. If we are lucky, we will see leopard and cheetah. It is also the home of several rare and endangered species of game, including one of the largest populations of black rhino in the world, as well as thousands of antelope.

Etosha National Park is situated in the Kunene Region of northwest Namibia and was established back in 1907 when Namibia was a German colony called South West Africa. Back then the park covered a huge 35, 500 square miles but today it is just a quart of its original size. If you are a budding photographer, Etosha National Park, with its remarkable landscape, is one of the most perfect places for you to practice those photography skills. The park is dominated by an enormous shimmering salt pan measuring 80 miles long and 31 miles wide. In the early morning and late afternoon the vast expanse of pans go through an amazing range of colour changes; from pink to orange and purple to deep blue. These stunning colour changes are a fantastic and unique sight and provide the perfect drop back images of wildlife or make beautiful pictures by themselves. The sensational rain clouds for you also provide an interesting contrast against the dry and hostile desert landscape. Most lodges and camps here have carefully designed seating areas that overlook the numerous waterholes. In such a dry area, these waterholes attract a vast array of thirsty animals including impala, zebra, gemsbok, wildebeest and herd of elephants and lion. Without doubt, African wildlife makes for some of the most beautiful photographs. After breakfast we will depart Epupa falls in the direction of Kunene River and as far as the weather & road condition permit, we will travel the wilderness along the Kunene River, while enjoying the beautiful natural scenery. At today s accommodation on a farm on the Kunene river, we will do rafting or Kayaking. The next day we will depart to Etosha. Day 13 20-02-2016 Travel time 4hours Distance: 280km Etosha Waterberg Plateau Erindi is one of the largest private nature reserves in the world. The reserve of 70 000 hectares is home to about 20 000 animals including the various rare and endangered species. Erindi employs lots of people who deeply care about the endangered species that have been preserved and perhaps in the future, reintroduced to the world outside the reserve. It is therefore through the great efforts & dedications that the local community is benefiting from tourism and also animal species can be preserved for future generations. Day 14 21-02-2016 Travel time 3hours Distance: 240km Route: Waterberg Plateau - Erindi Erindi is one of the largest private nature reserves in the world. The reserve of 70 000 hectares is home to about 20 000 animals including the various rare and endangered species. Erindi employs lots of people who deeply care about the endangered species that have been preserved and perhaps in the future, introduced to the world outside the reserve. It is therefore through the great efforts & dedications that the local community is benefiting from tourism and also animal species can be preserved for future generations. Day 15 22-02-2016 Travel time 2.5 hours Distance: 180km Route: Erindi Windhoek Last stretch of the journey will be 3 HRS drive from Erindi via Okahandja where we will stop in town for photography and refreshments; The distance from Okahandja to Windhoek is less than 80km therefore it will take us only one hour to get there; Last day we can also take a walk around Windhoek Independence Avenue where you will have a great opportunity to take some photos of People of Namibia.
