From the organizers Your ONLY dedicated trade show for fresh produce in the Middle East keeps growing! 21% visitors increase from the last year, 35% growth on the rented space and many more For the third consecutive year the show WOP DUBAI is organized under the patronage if His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Municipality. The event took place in September 26th 28th, 2011 at the Airport Expo Dubai, alongside the 6th edition of IPM DUBAI - International Plants Expo Middle East, the region s only dedicated plants and flowers trade show. Both shows were inaugurated by H.E. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of the Dubai Municipality and are organized by planetfair Dubai and Messe Essen GmbH in cooperation with the Dubai Municipality and Dubai Central Fruit and Vegetable Market, the Middle East s biggest market for import and export. The total outcome of the show this year reflected the huge growth in the trade of perishables in the Middle East and proved the position of WOP DUBAI as the only trade fair for fresh produce in the region as well as strengthen emirate of Dubai as an important destination and a worldwide trading centre for fruits and vegetables. The constant growth of past years continued this year with more than 131 exhibitors from 18 countries with 8 country pavilions and growth of 35% on the rented space to introduce alternative and new products to the region and offer solutions covering the entire chain from production to consumer and representing fresh products, goods safety, technical equipment, transport, trade and services. 2555 traders and industry professional from 54 different countries visited the exhibition with a growth of 40% from the last year for WOP attendance figures. 4321 visitors attended both shows with a general total growth of 21% from the last year. The next big step for 2012 is changing the venue of the exhibition to be at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) - the most prestigious exhibition center in the Middle East - where it is expected to have another substantial increase of space and capacity for the exhibition and provide our visitors and exhibitors better services due to the venue facility and strategic location. Exhibitors profile and national pavilions Overall, 131 companies from 18 nations presented their range of products and services at WOP DUBAI 2011. They came from Australia, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Greec, Italy, Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, Netherlands, Palestine, Rwanda, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom and UAE. UAE participation highlight Official 8 Country Pavilions from France, China, Lebanon, Rwanda, Egypt, Kenya, Turkey and Italy, two of them participated for the third time namely Egypt, and Kenya. China was participating for the second time and the other five country pavilions France, Lebanon, Rwanda, Turkey and Italy where participating for the first time. WOP continues the remarkable co-operation with Dubai Municipality represented by Dubai Central Fruits & Vegetables Market the region s largest market for fresh produce. Dubai Central Fruit & Vegetable Market developed an outstanding partnership with WOP DUBAI. This partnership with the largest centre for trade and distribution of fresh produce in the Middle East ensured that WOP continues to be the most important meeting point of the industry in the Middle East. Being a strategic partner of WOP DUBAI 2011, Dubai Municipality with their tenants presentation and their participation in all WOP activities has provided a new dimension to the show in its third edition which is by far the biggest. Engineer Abdulla Mohammed Rafia Assistant Director General for General Support Sector of the Dubai Municipality said: Dubai is a center for the whole region as far as the trade of the fruits and vegetables are concerned so having an exhibition in this area and taking it to an international level is quite important for Dubai and the region and this year I ve seen the exhibition and I am glad to say it have been a success and I am expecting to see much bigger show next year Dubai Central Fruits & Vegetables Market tenants participation The tremendous participation of the UAE fresh produce leading companies along with tenants in the region s biggest Dubai Central Vegetable & Fruit Market (Aweer) was one of the show s success pillars. 14 UAE local companies and tenants of Aweer Marker where participating at WOP 2011 and presented their services and products in a special presentation and exceptional oriented stand designs. The leading participants among the UAE companies and Aweer tenants were Barakat Group of Companies, Fresh Fruits Company, Unifrutti, Nassar Rifai, Al Sughayar Trading, Mehtab Vegetables and Fruits LLC, Saadi, Abu Seedo, All Fresh Co, Khamis Younes AlDaraimli, Marhaba, Royal Fruit and Green Belt Trading.

Exhibitors Comments Exhibitors Statistics WOP DUBAI is the only fruits and vegetables show in the Middle East. It is the only promising fresh produce show amongst all related shows in GCC/Middle East. WOP DUBAI showed its promise in the first year and since then has continuously delivered as well! I am very happy to say that WOP DUBAI 2011 has successfully maintained all these qualities and we are definitely going to take part in the forthcoming edition of WOP DUBAI 2012. M. Visitors Profile The two affiliated fairs were attended by 4,321 trade visitors from 54 nations, of which the WOP registered visitors accounted for 2,243 trade visitors. 2,555 visited WOP DUBAI 2011 with the 15% overlap with the IPM DUBAI 2011 visitors. The total share of foreign trade visitors for WOP DUBAI 2011 was 44%. Congress Highlight In cooperation with WOP Dubai the Eurofruit Congress Middle East, organized by Eurofruit Magazine and took place on 24-25 September 2011 at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City, followed by WOP DUBAI on 26-28 September 2011 at the Dubai Airport Expo. The back-to-back events have positioned the Middle East as a fast-growing market for quality fresh fruits and vegetables from all over the world. Both events created an exclusive, combined platform for professionals to exchange best practices, network and create business. Having two days congress followed by three days exhibition turned the whole week into a Fresh Produce Week where experts, traders and industry professionals meets under one roof and exchange business and industry knowledge at the same time. While WOP DUBAI is positioned as a platform for the perishables and plant industries to connect suppliers and service providers from across the globe, Eurofruit has tackled issues and trends for delegates to improve their business and keep them one step ahead of the game. Market Outlook WOP Dubai 2011 has been positioned as a platform for the perishables and plant industries to connect suppliers and service providers from across the globe. Especially with the growing consumption of fruits and vegetables, WOP DUBAI will play an integral role in introducing alternative and new products to the region. According to recent figures by the FCA, the total value of UAE-GCC non-oil foreign trade hit Dhs 5.8bn in May, 2011, of which Dhs 2.4bn in imports, Dhs1.4bn in exports and Dhs 1.9bn in re-exports. Non-oil industries are continuing to grow steadily and contributing significantly to that trend are the figures we see for the perishables and planet industries. Since its inception three years ago, World of Perishables has seen tremendous growth mainly due to the fact that the fruit and vegetables industries have steadily been growing through out the years. Since 2008 to 2010, Dubai has seen a 16 per cent growth in the import of fresh fruits and a 20 per cent growth in fresh vegetables. Last year Dubai imported nearly 1.7 billion kgs of fruits and vegetables valued at approximately Dhs 5.3 billion. Dubai is such a multi-cultural hub and home to many nationalities, which is a key driving force for the imports of fruits and vegetables from across the globe. Dubai has also proved to be the re-export centre for the region for markets such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. A copy of the complete Media report will be available on request In 2010, Dubai alone imported over 1.1 billion kgs of fresh fruits at a value of over Dhs 4 billion, exported nearly 38 million kgs at a value of approximately Dhs 90 million and re-exported 463 million kgs valued nearly at Dhs 1.5 billion. Figures were also substantial for fresh vegetables in 2010 with Dubai importing approximately 590 million kgs for Dhs 1.3 billion, exporting nearly 1 million kgs at a value of Dhs 5.7 million and re-exporting 53 million kgs valued at Dhs 118 million.
