Day 1 Moremi Game Reserve - 3 nights - Full Board Your safari begins this morning on arrival in Maun where you will meet your guide for the start of your 10 day mobile camping safari through Botswana. You will be flown by light aircraft from Maun to Xakanaxa where you spend the day exploring the surrounding region by vehicle. You spend three nights in the Moremi Game Reserve in a comfortable 3m x 4m 'A' frame en suite tent on a full board basis to include all meals, house drinks (mineral water, soft drinks, beer and G&T) and all game viewing activities. The next morning you wake early, and head out for a game drive as the sun rises. The Xakanaxa region is rich in game and this will be your first introduction to a lot of the birds and animals which you can expect to see in the area, after which you return to camp for breakfast later in the morning. In the afternoon you have the chance to explore the channels of the Xakanaxa Lediba (Lagoon) by boat, and see the permanent waterways with associated birds and wildlife, before returning to camp for dinner. On your last day in this region, after an early light breakfast, you will take a further game drive, tailored to your own particular interests. You will return to camp for a sumptuous brunch and an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon siesta followed by hot showers. Tea is served just before heading out on an afternoon game drive to further explore the region before returning to camp for dinner.
Day 4 Khwai Community Area - 3 nights - Full Board After breakfast you set off from Xakanaxa and head for the Khwai Community Area to the east. Your journey to Khwai follows the course of the Manuchira Channel (the Khwai River) through floodplains and into mopane veld and the woodlands which characterise the Khwai Area. You will pass the Dombo Hippo Pools and stop for a while to take in the hippo s antics. Meanwhile, the support team breaks down your camp and moves it to the next site. By the time you arrive for lunch your new camp in the Khwai Community area will be fully established. You will spend three nights here in a comfortable 3m x 4m 'A' frame en suite tent on a full board basis to include all meals, house drinks (mineral water, soft drinks, beer and G&T) and all game viewing activities. The change in habitat heralds a change in the dominant wildlife species, which you will already have noticed on your way to the new camp. After lunch there is time for a siesta before heading out on an afternoon bush walk with an armed guide. You will return to camp for dinner and the option (included) of a night drive to see the area s nocturnal wildlife. The following day starts with an early morning walk combined with a game drive. The length of bush walks is determined by the fitness and comfort level of the group. The opportunity to watch hippo in one of the many pools which form on the Khwai River is a highlight. After sunset you take a night-drive to find more of the nocturnal wildlife in the area, returning to camp for dinner. You will spend your final day in the Khwai area further exploring the region on foot, by both day and night game drives and by mokoro (dug-out canoe), allowing you to have up close and personal encounters with the stunning flora and fauna. After lunch and siesta, a late afternoon game drive will take you on a final exploration of the area.
Day 7 Chobe National Park - 3 nights - Full Board Today you leave Khwai and head north. While the camp team dismantles and moves the camp you take a game drive to the Savuti region of Chobe National Park. It's a drive of up to five hours dependent on the road conditions and sightings along the way. Savuti is famous for its large population of bull elephant who rely on the three water holes in the region. Because the elephants must visit the waterholes you are guaranteed to see some elephant interaction as the loose herds gather and split up again after quenching their thirst. Birdlife in the region is fantastic with species frequently seen including red-header weaver, yellow throated petronia and paradise flycatchers. As well as exploring the vast open grasslands of the old marsh you will hopefully see some of the rarer game in the region including cheetah, leopard, as well as wild dog. You will spend three nights in the Savuti region in a comfortable 3m x 4m 'A' frame en suite tent on a full board basis to include all meals, house drinks (mineral water, soft drinks, beer and G&T) and all game viewing activities.
