First Week I arrived on May 19th in Vancouver 5:40 p.m. Michele and Joe picked me up on the airport. I was very tired but happy that I was there and all worket out well. I stayed one day there and then I cycled to hope. It was beautiful weather and I had tailwind. I stayed one night in Hope and then I went over the Coquihalla to Merritt. That was hard and a lot of heavy traffic. And I also had a flat tire. I stayed two nights in Merrit it was very impressiv how dry it was there. After That I went to Kamploops on the highway 5a that was a beautiful way with lakes and hills in the background. In Kamploops I met Lucas and Jill a young very nice couple. Second Week On Sunday we went to a dirtbike competition, that was fun! =) In the evening we drove to Revelstoke with his brandnew dodge ram. We stayed two nights there, it was very nice, the house on a little hill in the forest over a lake. On thuesday I cycled to nakusp. The view over the lake and the rockeries in the back were just sunnting. On the way to nakusp, I went into the hot springs (just relaxing =) ) I stayed two days in nakusp because it was raining. Nakusp was a nice little village on the lake. On the way to nakusp I noticed that something must be wrong with my gear and I saw a little metal thing on my front gear was broken. The bike mechanic in nakusp was a good man a fixed it fast and very well.
On Friday I cycled from nakusp to Vernon, which was my biggest daily route on my whole trip, a little bite more than 200km. In the morning it was pretty cold but I saw a lot of animals on the road, dears, Marmots and squirrel. This picture was taken before I took the ferry across the river: The family I stayed in nakusp took my baggage to Vernon, which was very nice. It was nice ride with less traffic and beautiful nature. I stayed four days in Vernon. This picture was on a kayak trip on the beautiful lake: Third Week On Tuesday I went to Kelowna. I spent there three nights in a beautiful house on the lake by a very sympathetic family. The man was a water-skier and had his own boat on the lake; we did some rounds on the lake! =) On Friday I cycled from Kelowna to Logan Lake, it was 193km. I did the Coquihalla a second time, it was very cold on the top and I had to wear gloves. I met Alex in Logan Lake; he worked in this huge copper mine near the village. He showed me the whole mine in the evening that was very impressive and interesting. On Saturday I cycled to Ashcraft and to Cash Creek. In Cash Creek were graffiti days in this days, big car show, burnouts and drag races, a lot of fun =)
I met the mayor of Cash Creek in the evening on a car show, he was there with his McLaren MP4-C12 such a powerful machine! I ask him, if we can drive around a small route because tomorrow is my 21 birthday. He invited me for a trip on Sunday on my birthday that was just amazing. I had a wonderful birthday with him and his family in Cash Creek. Fourth Week I spent the Monday in Cash Creek too because of the weather. On Tuesday I cycled to Lillooet, the river before looked like a canyon. I spent a night in Lillooet and on Wedensday I cycled to Whistler on highway 99.
The first night in Whistler I slept in this cool bus by some friendly young guys. I spent four Days in Whistler and watched some World Cup Games in Tapvles Pub with Guy and we also saw some nice Cars there. On Sunday after the Swiss game I left. It was the only day I had to cycle in rain. In the evening I arrived in West Vancouver and the weather turned to nice. I was surprised how hard it was from Squamish to West Vancouver. Fifth Week I spent a night in West Vancouver and on Monday I took the ferry to Gibsons. I cycled up the coast to Sechelt, that was a nice ride too I spent a day in Sechelt, it was a nice sunset there:
On Wednesday I cycled to Powell River and took the ferry to Comox. I spent a day there and then I cycled to Qualicum Beach. I spent a day there and cycled to Nanimo on Sunday, it was a good ride on the Island too. Sixth Week On Monday I cycled to Victoria on the way I took this Picture on the Malahad: I spent three days there I liked the town very. Every morning at 6:00 I went cycling with a cycling group there with Alan that was perfect. On Wednesday I left and took the clipper to Seattle. That was pretty fast ;-) about 60 km/h. A special thing on this day was the US Customs; they took me 15 away and asked me stupid things about my personal life. I arrived Seattle 20 to 3 in the afternoon. It was a nice feeling first time in a real city with skyscraper. I really enjoyed Seattle, the nice parks, downtown and nice climate. I left Seattle on Sunday and cycled to Bellingham in the morning it was pretty cold but it turned during the day.
Seventh Week I cycled to Vancouver on this Monday the weather was nice but the last 20km in the town were no nice to ride, so I decided to take the sky train for the last part. I watched some Soccer games there, shopped in Downtown and looked to some sight in the town. I really enjoyed Vancouver too! I left Vancouver on July 7 and everything on my trip worked out well and I arrived in Switzerland on July 8 16:20 and was very happy to be back healthy by my girlfriend and in my country! Thank you all for beds you provided me, for the nice food you gave to me the valuable time you spent with me. I had the trip of my life and I hope to see you all one day again! Maybe in Switzerland! Thank you so much!! Love, Roman
The Trip All together I cycled about 2100 km or 1304 miles. This was my route so you can compare with switzerland. That means I did it by car or with a ferry. By bike
