Copper Mountain Trip December 9-12, 2017 Six members of the Omaha Ski Club joined with 34 members of the Cornhusker Ski Club for a few days of skiing at Copper Mountain CO. It was a great trip to get our gear together and find our ski legs. Mother Nature didn t cooperate with our plans, but we made the best of it. Saturday morning, we checked our lift tickets and made sure we were ready for the new lift gates. El s lift ticket seemed to be faulty even though we had just received them. We finally got that worked out and made our way up the lift. There was not much terrain open, but what was open had good snow. We enjoyed the day, had lunch at Solitude Station and then went to watch Lefty Lucy entertain the early crowd. We met up with Brian and Pat. That evening, we joined the rest of the group for a great pizza party. It was nice to see everyone. The mountain hosts were there to explain the mountain. It was early season, so not much going on yet. Sunday went a bit smoother, although El still had trouble with his lift ticket. We had fun going on all the runs, but it was a bit challenging getting from the Eagle lift to the American Flyer lift. They had a big air competition going on and had the base roped off. We had to walk to the Flyer. We skied most of the day and went to the hot tub for a while. That evening we went to the Eagle BBQ for delicious ribs and brisket for reasonable prices. Monday, we skied most of the day. That evening we were treated to a great dinner of Sheppard s pie, salad and dessert hosted by Simon and Jamie Lewis and Len and Chris Szmurlo. Jamie and Chris weren t able to be there, but Chris sent yummy dessert for the group. Thank you to all for hosting us. We had a wonderful evening chatting and catching up. I loved the poodles! El, Phil and Teri left on Tuesday morning. Dale, Ben and Joe skied until early afternoon and then left for home. We had dry roads both coming and going. It was a shock when I drove into my driveway to find that someone had stolen Phil s big truck. That really dampened the mood after a wonderful trip. P.S. The truck still hasn t been found unfortunately.

As of this letter, we have had to cancel the Powderhorn trip due to lack of snow. I hope the snowfall picks up for our late January trip to Snowmass. Thank you all for making our first trip of the season a good one! Wishing you and your families a Happy New Year! Think snow!!!
