LIVING NERETVA, TOWARDS EU STANDARDS IN THE NERETVA RIVER BASIN (BiH) Hydrological data collected for Trebizat river 1

TREBIŽAT hydrological point of view complexity of the natural hydrodynamic water regime of Western Herzegovina as a High Karst area: developed karst formations (ponors / sinkholes, zones of ponors, estavelles,...) the most significant is characteristic of high water permeability, often representented with complicated underground channel network; 2

TREBIŽAT hydrological point of view hydrogeological map that shows the hydrogeological function, including zones with low and high permeability is given* results of observations and measurements of many springs and groundwater tracing experiments are presented, too * Sliskovic, Ivan: On the Hydrogeological Conditions of Western Herzegovna (BiH) and possibilities for New Groundwater Extractions, 1994. 3

Orographically, total catchment area is around 1200 km2. However, hydrological watershed is not possible to define strictly. Neretva 4

Names of Trebizat river Vrlika river sinks at the village of Drinovci, emerges again in the spring of Tihaljina r. at Pec Mlini. From Pec Mlini till Klobuk, after receive waters from source of Klokun, till receives water from Vriostica river, it is named Mlade. From Humac till mouth to the Neretva rives, its name is Trebizat At village Studenci, Trebizat receives water from water stream Studencica. 5

Pressures on natural hydrological regime existence of numerous artificial hydro technical buildings that affect the water regime: at 1950 tunnel was built ( Brzotok ) for evacuation of high waters from natural retenzion Nuga; HPP Rastovaca (1956 - Topala, tributary of Ricina); HPP Tribistov (1988 Ricina); HPP Pec Mlini (Sept. 2004 - Tihaljina) numerous irigation channels for agriculture production are present; Hambar Parilo Brza voda and others... 6
