TARANGIRE Our welcoming and peaceful camp is based in the southern section of popular Tarangire National Park. Off the beaten track, and far away from other camps and lodges in the park, it is nevertheless not far from some excellent wildlife; the nearby Gurusi swamplands ensure that warthog, zebra and other mammals are attracted to this area as they come to drink. And for any itinerary continuing to Lake Manyara National Park, and entering by its southern entrance, this camp is perfectly located. From Kuro Airstrip to Tarangire Tortilis Camp is approx. 20 minutes drive. Tarangire Tortilis Camp is also accessible by road from Arusha. It is a distance of 160 kms, which takes approx. 3.5 hours. Climate : The climate is characterized by seasonal rainfall. The dry season runs from June to September, with the long rains in April and May and short rains starting in vember. The maximum temperature in the area varies from lows of around 20 C in June and July, to highs in January and February of 29 C. Temperatures can drop to as little as 9 C at nighttime. LAKE MANYARA Lake Manyara Tortilis Camp is located a short drive from the National Park entrance gate. Our camp is in an elevated position, giving it the advantage of looking down towards the lake. Behind the camp, the ground continues to rise, with the Rift Valley escarpment providing a natural boundary on the park s western flank. With the tents facing to the east, early-risers can watch the sun as it ascends over the lake waters. Our intimate, comfortable camp includes a main lounge which offers plenty of seating, a dining-room plus ten spacious sleeping tents. All accommodations have ensuite facilities including eco-friendly flush toilets and showers. We may be in the middle of nowhere, but Wi-Fi is available throughout the camp. NGORONGORO Our camp enjoys a unique, secluded location. Set in sloping woodland, with the mountains of Makarot and Ol Mote close by, Ngorongoro Tortilis is located outside the famous crater yet only a short drive from it. Our neighbors are the fascinating Maasai people, colorful and dedicated herdsmen who tend their flocks nearby. Ngorongoro Tortilis is popular with our visitors, but also with the local wildlife which wanders freely in and out of the camp. Access : Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp is only accessible by road from Arusha. It is a distance of 190 kms, which takes approx. 4 hours. The maximum daytime temperature in July and August is around 19 C, and in January and February it reaches 23 C. Visitors should be aware that it gets quite cold at night, with temperatures as low as 7 C. Dry season is between June and September, with around 15mm of rain each month, but in most other months rainfall averages about 120mm. April is the wettest month, experiencing up to 220mm of precipitation. It is a distance of 345 kms, Which takes approx. 8 hours. Climate : The climate is characterized by seasonal rainfall. On average, the area receives about 700mm of rain annually. The dry seasons runs from July to September, with the long rains in April and May and Short rains starting in vember. The temperature in the area depend on the rainfall patterns. The average temperature is 24 C, while in the dry season months of June, July and August this decreases to 20 C. During this period, at night it can be chilly.
