2016 TIFT COUNTY RECREATION DEPARTMENT -SUMMER DAY CAMP- DESCRIPTION: The Tift County Recreation Department will be offering a fun-filled, enriched day camp again this summer beginning Tuesday, May 31, 2016 and continuing until Friday, July 29, 2016. Day Camp will not be held on Monday, July 4th. Breakfast and lunch will be provided through the Tift County School System starting Tuesday, May 31st and continuing until Friday, July 29th. A snack will be provided mid-morning and mid-afternoon. If your child does not wish to eat the school lunch provided, please bring a non-perishable lunch and a drink. We ask that lunches contain no metal or aluminum parts to reduce injuries to the child while opening containers. Parent or guardian will be required to come inside to sign their child in and out each day. When picking up your child you must present your Authorized Pick-Up Card and a picture I.D. or the child will not be released. Camp is open to all children regardless of sex, race, or income. TCRD Summer Day Camp is a government exempt program and is not required to be licensed by the state. Feel free to contact Bright from the Start Georgia DECAL (404-657-5562) and website address (www.decal.ga.gov). Parents, you will be requested to acknowledge on the registration form that you have been advised and understand this program is not licensed. HOURS: COST: 7:45 am 5:45 pm. Children must be picked up by 6:00 pm. $15.00 Supply Fee at Registration (this is a one time Summer Fee). $68.00 per child per week Tuition Fee due prior to Child starting camp. (Regardless of number of hours, 4 days or more is a full week). $61.20 per week for each additional child. (This is a full week 10% discount for each additional child.) $85.00 per week Out-of-County residents (no discounts apply). $20.00 per day for drop-ins (must be pre-registered). Charges for late pick-up $5.00 each 15 minutes. AGE: All participants must be ages 5-12. Child must be 5 by their first day camp and a child cannot have turned 13 by beginning of camp. ACTIVITIES: Performing Arts, Athletic Games, Swimming, Bowling, Funtastic Reading at the Library, Interactive Learning, Value Teaching, Field Trips, Arts & Crafts, Guest Speakers and many other exciting fun-filled activities. Camp Wiregrass A day camp program focusing on Georgia history and natural resources. Summer 2016 registration now open! Sessions available for ages 4-11 years old. Victorian Adventures, a girls only camp, is available for ages 8-12. Week sessions available in June and include snack, programming, supplies, t-shirt, and afternoon water games! Campers will build shelters, visit with Langdale Nature Center s resident animals, and learn basic orienteering skills. June 27-July 1: Step Back in Time: Campers will explore Georgia history from early Native American to late 19th century. Archery, cane pole fishing, historic baseball, wagon rides, and traditional games are just a few of the activities which will wear your camper out! Both camps: 8:30am 3:30pm snack, t-shirt, water games, and supplies included (campers bring sack lunch) $110/camper Trekker Camp, 9-11 yr olds June 20-24: Good Ole Days: Campers will experience mid-1800s southern Georgia Culture through interactive activities such as wool processing, wagon rides, cane pole fishing, traditional games, and historic baseball. This camp: 8:30am 3:30pm snack, t-shirt, water games, and supplies included (campers bring sack lunch) $110/camper Girl Only session, 8-12 yr olds June 6-10: Victorian Adventures: Campers will explore high society and working class as they learn how to host tea time, play games, cook a traditional 1800 s meal, and learn to embroider. The week will end with the girls hosting an afternoon tea for their special invited guest. Girls need a clean white t-shirt. This camp: 8:30am 3:30pm snack, t-shirt, water games, and supplies included (campers bring sack lunch) $110/camper Woodmen of the World sponsors camp for its youth members ages 8 15. Camps have built a tradition of being fun and adventurous and offer boys and girls the opportunity to expand their interests & skills, and learn about teamwork & leadership. Activities at camp include nature study, citizenship, drama, arts and crafts, swimming, fishing, games, hiking, sports and many others. Parents can be assured that the trained staff at each camp has the safety of each camper as their first priority. Tift Gymnastics Academy Summer Camp No couch potatoes here this summer! TGA recreational camps are the perfect combination of gymnastics and Fun! We will work on gymnastics skills, develop new ones, play skill-enhancing games, recharge with healthy snacks and top it off with free play! Campers will all begin the day with warm-up together and then separate according to their skill level. The program is fully funded by the Department of Human Services and is free to all students who qualify. The required documentation needed is a copy of the child s Social Security card and documentation stating that the child is eligible for, food stamps, Peach Care, or Medicaid. A letter or form is needed with a qualifying date of at least May 2016, you may acquire this from the compass website If the child does not receive services from any of these listed above they can also qualify by income. A family of four would qualify with an annual income of $72,750.00 per year. The guidelines depend on how many family members you have in your household. Summer will be a fun time for all. We will offer many different varieties of enrichment classes ranging from, Kids in the Kitchen, PE, Reading, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities. We will also have a hands-on curriculum. Every Friday we will be going on an educational fieldtrip. Payment Policy: To register ONE child, parents must pay the $20 (MEMBER) OR (PROGRAM PARTICIPANT) one time registration fee (which will cover a dri-fit camp shirt, backpack, water bottle, arts and crafts. Payments are due every Friday by 6:00 pm for the following week and subject to a $25 late Fee. We must know how many kids are coming for the Following week for Counselor to kid ratio and to be prepared for food for the following week. Campers will not be allowed back at camp until all outstanding balances are paid. Parent Orientation Dates and Times: The Parent Orientations are SCHEDULED to be held at the Tift Regional Event Center next to the YMCA on 1657 Carpenter Road. Below are the dates and times: Thurs., May 19 th 6:00pm. These orientations are for the PARENTS, not the campers. Campers are welcome to attend, but the meeting is for the parents. Parents will receive their camper t-shirt, back pack and water bottle. Parents will also be able to ask any questions they have concerning the camp. Any updated field trip information, special event information, etc. will also be given out. The orientation should last roughly 45 minutes to an hour. We will NOT go over an hour. Late Pick Up Policy $5 charged for the 1 st 10 minutes and $1 for each additional minute must be paid that day. All late fee charges must be paid before the camper can return to camp. Ages and Age Groups: YMCA Summer Camp Program Ages 5 13 All participants must be the ages of 5-13. Child must be 5 by 1 st day of camp and cannot have turned 14 by the 1 st day of camp. Campers will be divided into groups by age. Age groups will be determined by the number of campers registered for a week. Lunch and Snacks We are tentatively scheduled to serve breakfast and lunch at our summer camp program. The Y will provide a very light snack mid-morning OR midafternoon, but parents are encouraged to send snacks with your child. Drop Off / Pick Up The YMCA is only responsible for your child after you have signed him/her in and until you have picked him / her up. At pick up time, campers will only be released to those designated on the registration form. If you plan to have anyone else pick up your child, you must notify the staff in writing and call and speak to the YMCA Programs and Athletics Director.
