Picnic Apartment Mini-guide about our neighbourhood and our favourite places: walks, where to eat, to buy, Picnic Apartment is in Camp de l Arpa neighbourhood, in El Clot. It s a very lively and familiar area. The streets surrounding Picnic Apartment are quiet, but only few minutes walking from the apartment you ll find a pedestrian area, perfect for a walk, shopping, sightseeing or having a break. We are close to some of the main tourist attraction in Barcelona (only 15 minutes walking from La Sagrada Família, l Hospital de Sant Pau or La Torre Agbar), but in a non touristic area where you can enjoy the real Barcelona And very important: we are really well communicated with all the city 5 minutes walking from the apartment we have 3 metro lines: L1, L2 and L5, many buses, and a train station that connects the apartment directly with the Airport (30 minutes trip) or with Girona, a beautiful city in the North, or with some beaches at the North. Also, we would like to share with you our favourite places to have a walk, to eat, to buy, our favourite spots or simply where we like to spend time We hope you enjoy Picnic Apartment s surroundings We think it s a privileged environment to discover Barcelona and the people who lives in :))) 1

Where to buy Forn Elias The best bakery in the neighbourhood. Do not forget to try the coca de forner" (typical here, is like a bread with sugar and olive oil, all in the oven...) Ideal with a little piece of chocolate :) c. Freser, 90. Barcelona http://www.fornelias.com/ /2013/02/11/the-best-coca-de-forner/ Charcutería els nois Delicatessen. Walking around Carrer Rogent and Mercat del Clot Rogent street is one of the best places in our neighbourhood Pedestrian, with shops, coffee shops, and people walking around, is definitely a street full of life It's worth walking to the market square Rogent street starts at the corner of Freser Street and ends at Aragó Street. Then, it changes its name (but if you don t look at the street name you d think it s the same street) to Sèquia Comptal Street and it takes us to El Mercat del Clot. We definitely recommend this tour during business hours. Most os the stores are closed at lunch time (from 14 to 16:30 usually). The market is also closed on Mondays and Saturday afternoons and Sundays. Once you reach the market square it s worth getting lost in Clot Street and reach the Town Hall Square (pl. Valenti Almirall). There, if your budget allows you, a good recommendation is to eat at Can Pineda, a typical restaurant with high quality food, good rices and paellas and off of the tourist track 6
From the apartment to the beach (for pedestrian streets only) We love this walk You can reach Barcelona's beaches walking along pedestrian and lively streets only. There are between 40 to 50 minutes (it depends on how fast you walk ). We begin our descent to the beach at Rogent Street, continuing along Sèquia Comptal (Rogent Street changes its name). Once in the Market Square we have to go straight and cross Clot s Park. At the traffic lights of Gran Vía, we just need to cross it and turn left. We take the first street parallel to Rogent called Rambla del Poblenou. Here we are leaving our neighbourhood and entering to El Poblenou, another traditional and popular neighbourhood with lots of history, that we recommend without any hesitation La Rambla del Poblenou it s a long and lively street that leads directly to Barcelona s beaches. The first piece of the Rambla perhaps isn t the most lively, but once we get to the old Rambla del Poblenou, the entire atmosphere is just fantastic The street is filled with terraces where you can eat some tapas, restaurants, shops and more In La Rambla del Poblenou and surroundings we would like to recommend you: Can Recasens. A nice restaurant, ideal for a diner. Salads, toast, ham, cheeses, fondues,... in a very friendly and beautiful atmosphere. Rambla del Poblenou, 102. Barcelona http://www.canrecasens.com/ Tio Che Horchata, ice creams, from our point of view... the best in the city In summer you will see long queues in front of the place Rambla del Poblenou, 44. Barcelona. http://www.eltioche.es/ 7
Libreria La petita A selection of books for the little ones that we love Is in Marià Aguiló street, also pedestrian. This street is parallel to La Rambla del Poblenou and also tends to be very lively. c. Marià Aguiló, 115 Els pescadors Traditional restaurant located in a charming square where to eat good rice. But first, check the prices :) Plaça Prim, 1 http://www.elspescadors.com/ Until you get to the beach By the way, if you need a sun umbrella, don't hesitate to ask We'll let you borrow ours :) Following this link you'll find the map we've created in Google Maps >> 8
