MINUTES FROM APRIL 5, 2018 MEETING President Gary Moss opened the meeting. There were 22 members and 1 guest (Scott Shafer 76 Spitfire) in attendance. Cars for Sale/Sold: Rich Miller sold both his Bugeyes; Ty & Andi Nemeth s son has a White/Red 1960 Bugeye for sale original condition - $2200; Roger Mills has his 1954 MG TD for sale. Treasurer Don Zerrip reported we have $1465.35 in the checking account and $86.00 in the Flower Fund. He has paid the insurance bill. Mike McMillan reported on his Blount County Drive 11 cars on the drive with no one lost and no one broke down! Weather started off cloudy but ended with a sunny day. Drive ended at Hot Rods in Maryville for an early dinner. The April Fool s Bash was a nice event. Chattanooga provided BBQ & Chicken. Lots of good food and comradeship! April 21 is the date for the annual Mimosas and Dogwood Drive. Diane deropp advised this is year 12 or 13 for the event. Due to construction on Alcoa Hwy (US 129) you should enter from Montlake if you are coming from Knoxville and enter from Ginn if you are coming from Maryville. Plan is to drive to IJAMS Bring Your Own Lunch. Mimosas at 10:00 and drive heads out at 11:00. Springtime in the Smokies: Barbara Rigby advised that we still need lots of stuff for the silent auction. This is what brings in the most money for our charities. May 26 is the date for A GATHERING AT THE DRIVEN MAN in Cookeville, TN. Bring your picnic basket and, of course, your British Car. Soda, water and sweet tea to be provided by The Driven Man, Robert Hall. A Plateau British Car Club organized event, but open to all owners/lovers of British vehicles. (April Meeting Minutes continued) New Business: A proposal was made to change the start of the meeting to 7:00. President Gary asked everyone to think about this and we will discuss and vote on it at the May meeting. At the conclusion of the meeting, member Larry Benson gave a nice presentation on Concours judging of Ferraris at Pebble Beach and answered lots of questions. (Thank you Larry!) Dogwoods and Mimosas at the deropps Jim and Diane did their usual great social at their beautiful home. There were 16 cars and an uncounted number of people present from the English Auto Society and the Smoky Mountain Jaguar Club. That was just the beginning. Mimosas and snacks helped get the group relaxed only to be followed by an outstanding drive through the picturesque area by their home. This year they delivered not only great weather but some of the best viewing of nature we have had in some time! The second part of the day was the Diane-led tour to the Ramsey House. This was a change from the original planned IJAMS destination due to lack of facilities at IJAMS. The Ramsey House is a lesser known historical treasure in Knox County. With the outstanding weather we enjoyed lunch and conversation under the trees followed by expert house tours led by experienced docents. If you have not visited Ramsey House, you owe it to yourself to get there. John Rigby brought out his newly updated Citron but could not join the tour. El president, Gary Moss brought his TR 6 and Ray Yates matched with his 6. Of course Diane led the tour with their Jaguar while Richard Lockhart and Jim de Ropp followed as the sweep car. John and Jennifer Payne drove their usual Sprite on Steroids Miata in keeping with the British car theme. A special thanks to Jim and Diane deropp for another outstanding day of friendship and great scenery. As usual, they also found a gem of a place to visit. 3
