o Pro-Mo Lawn and Landscape is the sole contractor for 2016 for all maintenance and lawn cutting for the Trail o JP to help establish MOTC annual budget and capital improvement plan o JP mentioned that the county Department of Roads is working to designate dollars and resources for non-motorized (trail) projects for FY 2017 o Interaction with ITC! Provided ITC with aerials to identify areas where they will perform 2016 activities! JP will be the liaison to ITC moving forward! JP will be point-person for potential pre-construction meeting before ITC begins their 2016 vegetation management activities o Bathroom on Ridge Road in Richmond Township is damaged from vandalism " Jechske will look into it o Residents would like to dedicate a bench in Romeo Pocket Park for a Friends of MOT that recently passed away o Residents concerned about Maple and Blue Spruce disease on 24 Mile Road Motion by Youngblood, supported by Jeschke, to receive and file. UPDATE ON INSTALLING ISLAND ON 24 MILE ROAD / DEQUINDRE JP mentioned that total cost is approximately $91K where County Department of Roads will contribute half but waiting cost share from local municipalities JP to request opinion from County Corporation Counsel on using ITC Settlement Funds for non-vegetation management costs Motion by Jeschke, supported by Bosheers, to receive and file. REVIEW AND ADOPT LETTER TO ITC Reviewed contents of the letter and discussed edits Andrew Kim to provide revised version of letter to Commission via e-mail and all Commissioners to approve revised version via e-mail. UPDATE ON SEMCOG PHRAGMITES REMOVAL GRANT Bill Parkus from SEMCOG provided updated on phragmites grant to Lake St. Clair CISMA Treatment will begin August and continue through end of September Currently in the process of hiring a coordinator to administer the work of the CISMA. UPDATE ON SHELBY TOWNSHIP POCKET PARK JP to request staff member of county Department of Planning and Economic Development to sketch design of pocket park (25 Mile and Shelby). This will not be engineering drawings but just a design sketch. Bosheers requested share the sketch to be used for future pocket park in Washington Township Motion by Youngblood, supported by Jeschke, to receive and file. Motion carried. UPDATE ON ADOPT-A-TRAIL PROGRAM JP provided update that 12 organizations have been designated to conduct cleanup of trail, 3 times a year. However, we will need to re-engage the organizations to continue this effort Goetzinger to forward e-mails of the 12 organizations to JP so JP can follow-up with all the organizations to determine if they want to continue to adopt the trail JP will continue to ensure that kioks contain maps and brochures Motion by Jeschke, supported by Youngblood, to receive and file. FRIENDS OF MOT UPDATE Did not meet in May so no updates OTHER BUSINESS Andrew Kim provided list of SEMCOG Regional Review Committee members who are responsible for deciding on TAP grant recipients for 2017. Regional Review Committee meeting will take place on June 21, 2016 at 12pm Bosheers requested JP to look into the safety issues along major intersections. Possibly redoing the signage, adding rumble strips, and/or re-doing the paint to ensure that cyclists are stopping along intersections. There should also be updated contact information along the Trail in case of any issues. JP to look into this. JP provided update on legislative efforts to establish a State revolving fund which would be used to provide funds to finance projects to expand the Iron Trail and other non-motorized projects JP to talk to George Phiffer (Director of HCMA) to have Nina Kelly or a HCMA representative participate in the MOTC meetings moving forward Motion by Bosheers, supported by Jeschke, to nominate Jill Smith as Secretary of the Macomb Orchard Trail Commission for 2016. My main experiences are at 28 Mile Rd and Van Dyke, 29 Mile and Van Dyke, plus the point where Campground and Van Dyke intersect. I try to be very cautious, but I fear one of these days some careless biker is going to get seriously hurt. There is a STOP sign as the trail comes from the south and intersects with Campground. As a car driver intending to go south on Van Dyke or making a left turn to go north on Van Dyke, I have to watch for cars. I also watch for bikers. However,. when they come out of an obstructed area, put their heads down and power through the intersection, I pray I not only see them but the driver turning left onto Campground from North bound Van Dyke also sees the person. I think some proper, but heavy ticketing is in order. If you want to start with an awareness campaign fine, but please help me from hitting someone barreling through. 28 and Van Dyke does not seem to have a stop sign at the street. Trail rules say stop at all crossings. The person going north at Campground that was avoided doesn t realize that the trail is an extreme left view for the driver seeking to turn left off of North bound Van Dyke. Because of the angle of the road, it is not a 90 degree turn of the head as in a typical right angle intersection. Add to that there are trees that obscure the rider both south and north of 28 mile rd. A more obvious sign at the intersection and enforcement appear to be need. While the road angle at 29 and Van Dyke is not as severe as at 28 mile road. It is similar. Another pet peeve is the bicyclist who knows the trail crosses VanDyke and goes east at this intersection. I know I am an old Fussbuddy, but I don t think the cyclists should cut the corner to catch the light to cross Van Dyke. What some of them do is get off the trail path and diagonally go into the cross walk to cross Van Dyke. Here I am waiting to complete my left turn onto 29 expecting the bicyclist to stay in the crosswalk, only to see them swerve to the driver s side of my car to get into the crosswalk across VanDyke before the light turns green. I don t want to hurt anyone, but I do feel bikers have a responsibility. What about some articles in local papers and township newsletters. Even in homeowners association newsletters. Main Street, 9th Floor Mount Clemens, MI 48043 Commissioners: In response to your letter of May 31, 2016 requesting information about the upcoming vegetation management work along the Macomb Orchard Trail. Our work will include removing incompatible (tree) species - primarily on the east side of the paved trail - and chipping material from cleared areas, or cutting and dicing up individual stems under remaining shrub cover. Some larger trees that were left standing during the last major clearing work will be removed. Trees are marked with X (remove) or (trim). The work is planned to be done in/or around the 3rd week of June The contractor performing the work is Trees Inc. We will also be performing vegetation maintenance on private property adjacent to the trail. The trail property will not be used for access for this work. Should residents contact the Trail Commission, with questions about the work ITC is to perform on their property, please have them contact ITC at (877) 482-4829. We will have a forester schedule a meeting on site with them to discuss the work to be performed on their property. We met on March 24, 2016 and again on April 19, 2016 on the trail to review the work to be done this cycle as well as to discuss any assistance we could provide with the Trail Commission s maintenance of vegetation along the trail. Your request for a third meeting to review the work can be accommodated when the crew is on site. Due to the variance of the schedule (rain, equipment etc.) we will provide 24 hours notice. Detailed description on the scope of work on the trail. The scope should include the trees that were identified and agreed to be cut down during our April 19 th walk-through 2. Timeline / Project Plan of all work that will be performed on the trail 3. Name of contractor(s) that will be performing the work Vegetation Management on private residences 1. List of private residence addresses where ITC is obtaining easement rights, and the detailed description on the scope of work that will be performed at each residence 2. List of private residence addresses where ITC will be using the Trail to access those easements 3. Timeline / Project Plan of the work that will be performed at each residence 4. Name of contractor(s) that will be performing the work For the Commission, the above items will be useful tools to communicate ITC s 2016 activities to all Macomb County municipalities and residents. The above items will be received and filed at the July 2016 Macomb Orchard Trail Commission meeting and distributed to all impacted Macomb County municipalities and relevant county stakeholders. We are requesting submission of the above items by end of day June 15, 2016 (Wednesday). Lastly, we are also requesting that a pre-construction meeting be conducted before any ITC work begins on the trail and private residences. This meeting should be attended by ITC representatives, representatives of the Trail Commission, and other county and local municipality stakeholders. Along with submission of the above requested items, please also provide confirmation that ITC will initiate this pre-construction meeting. Cobalt is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization with a mission to provide research and education in the governmental and not-for-profit sectors This non-random survey was accessed through the MAC and SEMCOG websites and ran in the months of April and May of 2016 400 surveys were completed online

----- 12 DIA INSIDE I 2016 INSIDE I OUT Installation Agreement This letter of agreement will confirm the participating site owner and DIA's commitment to the conditions of installation. a) A full-sized, framed reproduction of a work from the DIA's permanent collection will be produced at the museum's expense, using materials that are weatherproof and lightfast. Installation onto buildings will be performed by a licensed and insured sign contractor at the museum's expense, installation onto free-standing sign posts will be by DIA staff. b) Installations by sign contractor onto buildings will require anchoring the reproduction substrate with appropriate hardware. De-installation will also be performed by the same contractor, and includes remediation of mounting holes with materials specified by site owner in this agreement. The deinstalled reproduction will remain the property of the DIA. c) Commercial general liability insurance during the period of exhibition will be covered by DIA underwriter (Lyman and Sheets Insurance Agency) with limits of insurance of $1,000,000. each occu rrence and $2,000,000 annual aggregate. d) In the event of theft or vandalism, as budget allows, the DIA will replace or remove the reproduction at the museum's expense. Replacement will require approximately fourteen days from request to reinstallation. If for any reason the owner or municipality requests removal before the date specified in this agreement, the DIA will co mply within five days, at the museum's expense. e) Cities and businesses involved in the project will be featured on a map on the DIA's website (www.dia.org). They will also be connected to the DIA through our social networks, including our Facebook, Flickr and Twitter accounts. The project will receive recognition through our newsletter and various printed and electronic communications. f) The duration of installation is approximately from August 1 through October 31, although individual installation/de-installation dates may vary based on owner's arrangements with DIA site manager.
