Corvette Club OF Texas Volume 60 Issue 3 - March 2008 Corvette Club of Texas PO Box 36022 - Dallas TX, 75235-1022 www.corvettecluboftexas.org Sponsored by Friendly Chevrolet 2754 N. Stemmons Fry - Dallas TX, 75207

From the Editor Meeting Information Our Friendly Rep! Corvette Club of Texas (CCT) Monthly Membership Meeting Held every third Friday of the month, at 7:30 p.m. at Friendly Chevrolet, 2754 North Stemmons Freeway, Dallas. All members, visitors and Corvette owners are Welcome. Following each CCT monthly membership meeting, a CCT after club social event is hosted by a CCT Member, starting at approximately 8:30 p.m. Monthly Board Meeting Held on the Monday before the third Friday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Friendly Chevrolet. All members are invited to attend. Wow, we had a great turnout for our picture day at Friendly on Feb. 10th. Weather was perfect and we got several good pictures that were sent to Blue Bars for publication. We had so many cars it was difficult to arrange them so that we could get all of them in the picture. I guess I have to invest in a wider angle lens for situations like this. Fortunately James Powdrill had the right camera to do the job! Thanks, James. For those of you considering moving from a C3 or C4 to a C6: Start saving your pennies for tires. I had to replace mine after 19K miles (a little over two years) and it cost a bit over $2300. But, boy, does the new rubber make a difference! Smooth and quiet ride over the same roads on which the old tires were loud and rough. The old ones followed every groove, the new ones are on rails. It s like having a new car again; at least until they start to wear in 10K miles or so. Another interesting note: There are three runflat tire brands that fit the C6, two of which were backordered for at least a month. I was lucky to get the last set my Goodyear dealer had in stock. Joe Wagner Friendly Chevrolet s representative to the Corvette Club of Texas is Greg Kubiak. When you need to replace your Corvette with a new C6 be sure and give Greg a call at 214-920-1950. Also don t forget to contact Greg when you are upgrading the family car for a new one! In addition to his regular work schedule, Greg is always at the dealership during our monthly Friday night membership meeting. Also, you can e-mail Greg at: intdir@friendlychevy.com On the cover: Fiftieth Anniversary Pace Car at Indy The Corvetter Volume 60 Issue 3 The Corvetter, the official newsletter of the Corvette Club of Texas (CCT), is published monthly by The Corvette Club of Texas P.O. CCT Picture Day Photos by Charles Whitaker Photo by Paulette Wagner Pretty good turn out on a beautiful day. 9

CCT AutoRama Outing By Charles Whitaker The weather had a damping effect on the club turnout for the CCT AutoRama outing on Saturday February 16, 2008 with only the leader Paul Wolter, Dennis Bertwell, and Gene & Charles Whitaker meeting at Dallas Market Hall. However, inside it was packed with people and a lot of pretty cars. Of course we spent a lot of time looking at the Corvettes and the cars that we remembered owning. Paul and Charles found a nice early 1950s Chevrolet convertible like each of us owned, Dennis found an Austin Healey Sprite like he owned and Gene found a Pontiac convertible like her brother owned and she drove. In addition to the nice cars, we saw some celebrities including George Barris the famous California car customizer, Henry Winkler who played Fonzie in Happy Days and Cindy Williams who played Shirley Feeney in the show Laverne and Shirley. There were also some good looking girls like at all car shows and one look-alike tow truck from Radiator Springs. Henry Winkler 10 Pretty girl Cindy Williams
