COURSE DESCRIPTION AAPB and the Biofeedback Society of Florida are pleased to announce a return to the Cayman Islands for this unique continuing education experience. The three and a half day program is designed for health care professionals and academicians with an interest in innovative biofeedback applications and the psychophysiological aspects of stress management (and a desire to experience a bit of their own). The workshop will be held in Cayman Brac, one of the charming smaller islands of the Caymans, offering the perfect ambience for a stress management experience. The conference is intended to be a family experience with time built into the schedule for lots of fun and interesting activities. World-renowned experts, Richard Gevirtz, Ph.D. and Erik Peper, Ph.D., will present the program in two tracks. Dr. Gevirtz s track will include presentations on understanding when and why to integrate biofeedback in the treatment of stress and anxiety disorders, the theory of and specific applications for heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback, and treatment of chronic muscle pain disorders. Dr. Peper s track will follow his popular Make Health Happen theme with both didactic and experiential components. He will include content on meditative and biofeedback methods for reducing stress and treating anxiety related disorders, and healthy breathing and workplace practices. CONFERENCE TUITION You can select from three tuition packages. All packages include the dinner lectures by both presenters on Saturday night, both lectures on Tuesday, island activities, reception and barbeque. This package offers 24 CE hours and costs $559 for AAPB/BSF members before July 5. If you choose Option A or Option B, you can register for additional lectures on an ala carte basis for $115 each. Additional lectures are worth 4.5 CE hours each.
SPEAKERS RICHARD GEVIRTZ, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized expert in the field of applied psychophysiology and biofeedback. He is a Professor of Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Diego. Dr. Gevirtz is widely published on topics related to the etiology and treatment of anxiety and psychophysiological disorders, heart rate variability, and mechanisms of chronic muscle pain. His research and practice in recent years have focused on psychophysiological mechanisms and treatment of disorders affected by the autonomic nervous system, such as IBS, Non-Cardiac Chest Pain, TMD, headache, and other muscle pain syndromes. Dr. Gevirtz is currently the President of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback. ERIK PEPER, Ph.D., is an international authority on biofeedback and self-regulation. He is Professor and Director of the Institute for Holistic Healing Studies at San Francisco State University. He is President of the Biofeedback Foundation of Europe and a past President of AAPB. Dr. Peper has published and co-authored numerous books and scientific articles including Mind/Body Integration: Essential Readings in Biofeedback, From the Inside Out: A Self-Teaching and Laboratory Manual for Biofeedback, Creating Wholeness: A Self-Healing Workbook Using Dynamic Relaxation, Images and Thoughts, Breathing for Health, Healthy Computing With Muscle Biofeedback: A Practical Manual for Preventing Repetitive Motion Injury, and Make Health Happen; Training Yourself to Create Wellness. CONTINUING EDUCATION AAPB is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists, and maintains responsibility for this program. In the past, similar programs have been approved for 15 and 24 continuing professional education credits for licensed psychologists. AAPB is also an approved provider of continuing nursing education by Colorado Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. In the past, similar programs have been approved for 18 and 28.8 CE credits for nursing.
