Once again I would like to thank our Bylaw Committee Chair PC Claudia Towne along with PC s Dee Cocchiola, Jane Gaulding, Len Dignard, Rich Franco, and Randy Meyer for their time and effort dedicated to this task. I would also like to thank Secretary Susie Moya, Carol Dignard, and Ed Caisse for overseeing the vote. Finally, I would like to thank all FBYC members for responding to this important vote. Your response is greatly appreciated by the committee and the board. The results of the proposed Bylaw changes are: Total Votes: 109 members Yeas: 94 Nays: 15 Therefore our new bylaws are in effect immediately and are posted on the FBYC website. All current board positions will remain in effect for the term they were elected to. All future changes to the board will be effective as of January 2019. Save the date for the 2018 Commodore s Holiday Ball. Once again we will enjoy Channel Side here in Palm Coast on Thursday, December 6 th. Our meal will be catered by the restaurant 386 and music provided by DJ Phil Farino. We also plan a special treat this year; your ticket will also include the cost of an open bar. Page 2 Commodore s Corner Cindy Franco - Cont. Cindy Franco cwindybrae@aol.com 386-986-3358 We hope you all come out to enjoy this very special evening. I will have more information as the time draws near. We had a very successful month for our members. I would like to thank Fleet Captains Mike and Frank along with their leads and volunteers for the Blessing of the Fleet along with a delicious Steak Bake. By the way, who was responsible for the weather? Great job! Thank you also to VC Jeanne and her volunteers for our annual Hot Diggity Dog Night and the very successful Commodore s Social at Sakura. A quick reminder to all boaters, the speed laws on the Intracoastal are in effect May 1 st along the posted Manatee areas. Although we all look forward to seeing Josh Greenier (Wildlife Fish and Game), this would not be the ideal opportunity. One final note, I received an update from Susan Bereda on Nick s progress. Nick was at home recovery from his recent bypass surgery and suffered a fall resulting in a broken ankle. Nick is currently in Florida Hospital Flagler here in Palm Coast awaiting surgery. I m sure he would enjoy your cards and well wishes. As you know, Nick and Susan have been in charge of our 50/50 for many years. Thank you Pam and Ken Miller for filling in for the Beredas while Nick is recovering. Happy Boating, Cindy

By Law Committee PC Claudia Towne, PC Jane Gaulding, PC Dee Cocchiola, PC Randy Meyer, PC Len Dignard, and PC Rich Franco. General meeting for April theme Hot Diggy Dog was another very successful event. With 91+ attendance and guest. Thank you Jack Cohen, Daniel Basany and volunteers. Thank You Susan Moya for handing out the ballots and Ed Caisse for diligently guarding the ballot box. Continued on next Page

Page 8 Rear Commodore - Ray Oakes roakes43@aol.com 386-246-6956 What a great day we had for the Blessing of the Fleet and Steak Bake events. The steaks and corn were exceptional; as were the goodies brought in by our members. We had several contests of horse shoes and corn hole playing simultaneously plus a lot of good ole socializing. I didn t win any of the contests, but still had a Great Day! During our last FBYC meeting we voted in favor of the proposed by-law changes. One big change was to remove the grandfathered members as boat owners. This change opens up 18 slots to add new boat owning members. After the meeting I handed out 6 applications to potential members, so we are off to a good start. Another change is that we will count members instead of memberships. One advantage is that each member will be paying the same amount for their annual dues. Our club has 136 members with 88 of us being boat owners and 48 being non-boat owners; making the percentage of boat owners 65%. Our FBYC by-laws dictate a 150 member cap with 75% of us being boat owners. A perfect scenario would be 150 members, 112 boat owners and 38 non-boat owners. We could use more boat owners so please see me if you have someone in mind. Enjoy boating and be safe. Rear Commodore Ray

Page 9 Fleet Captains: Frank Ruffalo and Michael Triano April was a busy month for the maritime crew, we had the Blessing of the Fleet at Cimaron Basin on April 14 th. We had 16 boats blessed by Christine Passiglia and assisted by Pam and Ken Miller. You guys did a great job and we really appreciate all of the work you have done for the club. After the Blessing we had our most popular event, the Steak Bake which was held at Herschel King Park. This was a huge success as we feed 95 members and guests with some of the best tasting steak and corn we have ever had. I want to thank all of the members that volunteered to help with this event, without your help we would not be able to have the Steak Bake because of the sheer number of people it takes to pull it off. Thanks to all of the set up and cleanup crews bust especially to the COOKS, Ed Cassie, Joel Houselander and Len Dignard. Continued on next Page

Page 10 As I am writing this article we are preparing for our first Raft up of the year, which will be held in the Cimaron Basin on April 28 th. The weather looks like it is going to be a great day on the water. The May event which is lead by Russ and Marsha will be at the New Symrna City Marina on May 11 th and 12 th. All available slips have been taken. On Saturday May11th dinner reservations have been made at Garlic s restaurant, 40 people have signed up for that night s dinner and there are no more openings for that also. I would call that a big success. On June 8 th Lynn and Eddie Uribe will host the Subs on the Beach event at the Matanzas Inlet. The club will supply the subs and salads for us, please bring your own drinks, snacks, chairs, tents and sun tan lotion. Plan on being at the beach about 11 am on the 8 th. If you have not signed up for this event and want to attend please contact Lynn. July 13 th and 14 th we will be at Marker 8 in St. Augustine. Jim Kelley has the lead for this event. Jim has reserved 12 slips and as of last week he had 11 members signed up. If you wish to take the last available slip, contact Jim.
