Sweet Treats with Santa Great title for a great event, but very hard to distinguish what was the sweetest part?!? First, we have to start with thanking Santa himself. He took TWO nights away from the North Pole to spend with us at Durbin. Good news he had such a MARVELOUS time this year, he has already cleared his schedule with the elves and Mrs. Claus to be with us next year too. Then there are all of the ADORABLE residents who came to see Santa, one cuter than the next. Some who brought their handwritten lists, homemade gifts, one who brought the ENTIRE Toys R Us catalog and several that ran in the other direction. There were many heartwarming conversations that took place with Santa, one even included a request for Elves to come and clean their room out of the mouths of babes! There were other special guests who need to be thanked as well. There was a very special performance by the Patriot Oaks Academy Band. If you weren t in the Christmas spirit before their performance you certainly were after. We were very excited they were able to attend and we look forward to many more performances from them. Go Chargers! Then the Durbin Dancers and their leader Christina Duncan. There wasn t a person who watched their performance that wasn t just stunned by how cute they were. They were on their spots and twirling and swirling to songs from Frozen. It was impressive and to think they learned all of those steps in classes right in our community. Here are just a few photos of the festivities. We would like to thank EVERYONE involved from beginning to end, including our Amenity Center elves. We look forward to many more Durbin Crossing memories and traditions in 2016. Wishing everyone a healthy and Happy New Year!!!!

Well, it is sad to report that our event was NOT CHILLY, NOR CHALLENGING! However, we didn t let the balmy air and water temperatures dampen our spirits! The BRAVE residents that did attend rang in the New Year right! The South Amenity Center was all decked out and it looked like it might have even snowed! Icicle the Polar Bear was on hand and never misses a photo op with his favorite Daring Durbins! Thanks to all who attended our 1st Annual Chilly Challenge, we look forward to a year full of more memories and traditions. Wishing ALL of our residents a Happy and Healthy New Year!

So much to be thankful for in 2016 As the new year is upon us, we all naturally start to think and plan those New Year s resolutions. You know the promises to eat better, exercise more, be more patient and possibly more kind as well. Before you start beating yourself about meeting or not meeting those goals let s back up one minute and pause to be thankful for what we do have. We hope as you plan for a new year and possibly a new you we would like to remind everyone of just a few of the things we should be thankful for. The following poem helps to put things into perspective. We wish each and every one of our residents the happiest of New Years! The mess to clean up after a party because it means I am surrounded by friends The taxes I pay because it means I am employed The clothes that fit a little snug because it means I have food to eat A lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home... All the complaining I hear about our government because it means that we have freedom of speech The space I find at the end of the parking lot because it means that I am capable of walking My huge heating bill because it means I am warm The lady behind me at church that sing off-key because it means I can hear The piles of laundry because it means I have clothes to wear Weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been productive The alarm that goes off in the early hours of the morning because it mean I am alive... Special thanks to our Sponsors in 2015. We appreciate you, your efforts and support. Looking forward to a happy and prosperous New Year.
