Directors Message Hello BCR Members, (Pictures Just for the fun of it. Richard found brousing the internet.) July has been a busy month for the Kahnbergs, and August is proving to becoming an even busier one. Not only did Richard and I return from a 30 day vacation, we took a short 3 day trip to Sea Ranch and spent 3 great days with friends and took in the Gualala Car show. Two of us entered in the Gualala Arts and Car Show on Saturday. Weather was perfect. Great accomodations at a house we shared in Sea Ranch. Small car show (limited to 100) setting amoungst the Redwoods and you see cars there that we don t always see at our local car shows. 3

August takes me back to NY State to visit family. This month also is a milestone in the Kahnberg family, our oldest granddaughter heads off to college at Texas A&M, while our youngest granddaughter and her mom head to NY City for a dance event and classes with professional dance instructors. Needless to say, there is excitement all around. Our event in July through the Sonoma Marin Country side was an outstanding event. Kudos to Leo for his (again) outstanding organization, timing, ideas to share and all that goes with pulling an event together for the club members to share. We had great participation and perfect weather for the day. We are looking forward to the August Celebration Event. Bring a dish to share (See EVITE) for who should bring what and plan to enjoy a relaxing afternoon with friends and share stories about your latest adventures. See you all on August 19 th. Be sure to RSVP the EVITE. Happy Buicking April Kahnberg BCR Director 2018 4

MINUTES OF THE BUICK CLUB OF THE REDWOODS July 11th, 2018 MEETING Director, April Kahnberg, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and welcomed guests Jim Liddle and Donna Watts who own a 1940 Buick. Members present were Don and Lois Brooner, Keith Brumbley, Bill and Joan Costello, Jay Emery, Rich and April Kahnberg, Leo Ladner, Will Norton, Gail Sollid, Dave Uhlig and Cindy Omoth. April asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the June meeting as published in the Nailhead News. The motion passed by unanimous vote. Rich reported that there were no deposits or checks written during June. Our membership is 24. OLD BUSINESS June 24 th was the Memorial Celebration for Stan at Armstrong Woods which was a great tribute to our friend. There were about 150 people who attended. Gail brought the elementary school picture of Stan that was in the Nailhead News and informed members that Stan was in the top row, second from the right. Dave H. was given credit for being the lead for the Juilliard Park Father s Day Show and Shine. Dave added some class to our tentative encampment which was greatly appreciated. Rich and April reported to members about their recent road trip to Colorado for the National Buick Club of America Meet and to Kansas for the Riviera Owners Association Meet. Wayne Metz won a 1 st place award for his 1980 Reatta at the BCA Meet. Congratulations, Wayne and Gail. NEW BUSINESS Flyers for upcoming car shows were reviewed and passed around. Jim reported on a car show to be held July 21 st at the Sebastopol Veteran s Memorial Hall benefiting veterans. T-shirts have been picked up and already distributed to many. Rich and April paid the $666.72 balance due when picking up the shirts. A motion was made, seconded and passed to reimburse the Kahnbergs. There were five extra shirts ordered. Contact April if interested. Plans for the August 19 th 20 year Celebration were reviewed. A flyer will be emailed to all members next week with event details. An Evite will follow. The September event is a Poker Run on Sunday the 9 th with Terry as the lead. More details to follow. The 50/50 raffle was won by Keith. The meeting was adjourned at 7:46 p.m. Respectfully Submitted, Joan Costello, Secretary 5

Buick Club of the Redwoods July 14th, 2018 Club Tour Sonoma Marin Countryside Fourteen members came from near and far to meet at Cattleman s in Petaluma at 9:30 AM. Leaving Cattlemen s parking lot, we traveled through historic downtown Petaluma and past some of the areas finest homes along the fabled D Street. After about 27 miles (50 minutes or so later), we arrived at the Visitor center at Point Reyes National Seashore. Along the way, we made a quick stop at the cheese factory for some of the best specialty cheeses available anywhere. Once at Point Reyes National Seashore Visitor center members enjoyed the many educational and historical points of interest, including the 1906 Earthquake trail. We spent an hour or so investigating this local treasure. The famous fence split. Pretty impressive in real life 7

A Five minute drive to Olema, took us to the Farmhouse Restaurant; where lunch reservations awaited us at noon. The Farmhouse did not disappoint. Our table was waiting, the service attentive, and our orders were nicely prepared and pretty much delivered to our table at the same time. Everyone enjoyed our visit to this historical venue. Leaving Olema we followed Highway 1to Point Reyes Station and then north along the east shore of Tomales Bay for about 17 miles and 35 minutes to the town of Tomales. We turned easterly toward Petaluma and traveled an additional 17 miles or so to our last destination, the Clover Creamery to top off our day with ice cream and fellowship.
