Adventure in Patagonia VALPARAISO LE SOLÉAL - st November 209 From 6,070 VALPARAISO LE BORÉAL - 7th March 2020 From 5,590 4 days / 3 nights Chilean Fjords Your ship will chart a course towards the of Chile, to archipelagos and torturous fjords where majestic glaciers seem to meet the ocean... This remote setting is remarkable for the splendour of its sea scattered with islands, and its slow and powerful glaciers that have been transforming and reshaping the landscapes over centuries. Your ship will glide over the calm waters of the fjords to edge closer to these towering walls of ice. The Jorge Montt, Brüggen and El Brujo glaciers particularly stand out. These living giants crack, rumble, and suddenly calve chunks of ice in iridescent colours. This is a real treat for photographers. During some stopovers, you will have many opportunities to set out aboard our Zodiac dinghies, piloted by your naturalist guides, to get as close as possible to this untamed natural world, where the presence of human beings is almost imperceptible Outings and shore visits in Zodiac inflatables with naturalist guides; Quemchi, a very authentic village on the island of Chiloé; Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine National Park, listed as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve; Observing glaciers, channels and fjords, and navigating along narrow passages; If weather conditions allow it, disembarking at Cape Horn and discovering its albatross sculpture created by the Chilean artist José Balcells Eyquem; The stop in Tortel, a picturesque village with wooden pontoons and footbridges, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Sailing along the Beagle Channel (with its so-called Glacier Avenue ) and in the Strait of Magellan; Depending on opportunities, observing Magellanic penguins, guanacos, caracaras, dolphins, humpback whales, fur seals, sea lions, alpacas, condors and cormorants; Optional additional cost excursion: Torres del Paine National Park, from Puerto Natales; The stop in Puerto Williams, considerated as the southernmost village in the world; Landscapes: fjords dominated by the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, iridescent glaciers, and mountain lakes with crystal-clear water. In the heart of Chilean Fjords VALPARAISO L AUSTRAL days / 0 nights 5th November 209 From 4,260 Cape Horn Discover the crucial passage sailors call the Horn. This legendary cliff stands some 425 metres tall and is the most southerly point of the lands attached to America. Your ship will sail around the characteristic silhouette discovered in January 66 by two Dutch sailors who named it after their hometown. Weather conditions permitting, you will disembark at the foot of the cape and climb up wooden steps to the imposing memorial dedicated to all the sailors who lost their lives rounding the cape. The sculpture depicts the slender silhouette of an albatross in flight. A solemn atmosphere reigns over this intensely wild land surrounded by a fierce and powerful ocean. Observing glaciers, channels and fjords, and navigating along narrow passages; If weather conditions allow it, disembarking at Cape Horn and discovering its albatross sculpture created by the Chilean artist José Balcells Eyquem; The stop in Tortel, a picturesque village with wooden pontoons and footbridges, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Sailing along the Gabriel Channel, the Beagle Channel (with its so-called Glacier Avenue ), and the Strait of Magellan, on the edge of Tierra del Fuego; Depending on opportunities, observing Magellanic penguins, caracaras, dolphins, humpback whales, fur seals, sea lions, condors and cormorants; Landscapes: fjords dominated by the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, iridescent glaciers, and mountain lakes with crystal-clear water. Flight Ushuaia/ International (Pistarini). At the extreme south of the continent, the Beagle Channel separates Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego from a multitude of smaller islands, the last of which forms the majestic promontory of Cape Horn. The north-west branch of the canal is known as Glacier Alley: it is a succession of high walls of ice that finish their journey in the salty seawater. Each glacier has its own personality and name - the Dutch, the Italian, the French, the German The combination of the forces of nature on display, the colours ranging from white to blue, the cracks as the sheets of ice collapse into the sea form a captivating spectacle. Fiordland and the Sub Antarctic Islands Expedition DUNEDIN DUNEDIN LE LAPÉROUSE 4 days / 3 nights 2nd February 2020 From 8,20 Sub Antarctic Islands The New Zealand Sub Antarctic islands, Macquarie Island and Fiordland National Park have been honoured with World Heritage status, meaning they represent the best of the world s natural heritage. More than half of all known species of albatrosses and penguins live here, and it is a nesting site for thousands of sea birds. Marine mammals are not left out, with impressive colonies of sea lions and fur seals. The Sub Antarctic Islands Expedition from Tasmania HOBART DUNEDIN LE LAPÉROUSE 4 days / 3 nights 2nd January 2020 From 7,090 The Auckland Islands Lying 500 km of New Zealand, the Auckland Islands, or Motu Maha in Maori are the largest, highest and biologically richest of the New Zealand Sub Antarctic Islands. The islands have been identified as an Important Bird Area (IBA) by BirdLife International as they hold important seabird breeding colonies. They are the stronghold of the rare yellow-eyed penguin. Most of the world s population of white capped albatross breed here (some 90 00,000) as do Gibson s wandering albatross, ern royal albatross, light-mantled sooty albatross and antipodean albatross. The Auckland Islands are also the primary breeding location of the threatened New Zealand sea lion. Macquarie Island Long celebrated as one of the wonder spots of the world, the Macquarie Island Nature Reserve lies,500 km south-southeast of Tasmania, halfway between Australia and Antarctica. It is an island of great beauty and outstanding natural diversity, a breeding place for many of the ern s birds and animals. The avian statistics are remarkable; around 3.5 million seabirds arrive on Macquarie Island each year to breed and moult. This includes an estimated 850,000 Royal Penguins, up to 500,000 breeding pairs of Rock-Hopper Penguins, 00,000 breeding pairs of King Penguins and over 5,000 breeding pairs of Gentoo Pengiuns. In addition, 4 species of fur seals and the southern elephant seal come ashore to breed and moult on Macquarie Island every year.
