Welcome Welcome to the third part of the sixteenth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 16) and the third part of the fourteenth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 14), held at the ATLAPA Convention Centre, Panama City. Reception Saturday, 1 October 2011 at 7 p.m. A reception hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take place at the main lobby of the ATLAPA Convention Centre ( Los Tapices ). All conference participants are invited. Where do I get my conference badge? Parties, observers and press can register and have their photograph taken at the Registration Desk located at the entrance of the ATLAPA Convention Centre. Badges are issued to representatives of Parties on the basis of a letter of nomination. Representatives of Observer Organizations must be registered through the Online Registration System in order to be issued a badge. Press badges are issued to accredited press representatives on presentation of a valid press card and identification document (e.g. a passport). Press badges allow access to all public meetings and sessions unless indicated otherwise. Double registration for the sessions is not permitted (e.g. a participant may not be registered simultaneously as a nominee of a Party and of an observer organization, or simultaneously as a nominee of a Party and a press representative). In order to comply with the security requirements of the secretariat, participants are expected to wear their badges visibly at all times and in all areas. If you lose your badge, please report it to the Registration Desk immediately. The Daily Programme is available at the Documents Counter, located in the foyer of the ATLAPA Convention Centre, and on the UNFCCC website. Documents Counter opening hours and contact information: Saturday, 1 October to Friday, 7 October 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Daily Programme provides detailed information on all scheduled meetings of the Convention bodies, meetings of other groups, side events and other announcements relevant to the conference. Information in the Daily Programme is subject to change. For the most up-to-date information regarding meetings and rooms, please check the CCTV monitors located throughout ATLAPA CONVENTION CENTRE and the Sheraton Hotel. This information may also be found on the UNFCCC website. In addition to the Daily Programme, all official documents and the list of participants are available at the Documents Counter. Where can I distribute documents? Invitations, leaflets and other documents that are clearly attributed to a Party or an admitted observer organization can be authorized for distribution in the pigeonholes, located at the Documents Counter. Please contact the Observer Organizations Liaison Office Team located in the office of Conference Affairs Services for guidance and authorization. Please take your comments and corrections to Ms. Vera-Lynn Watson at the Registration Desk. Where can I book a meeting room? Rooms at the site may be booked for closed meetings, availability permitting. To book a meeting room, please complete the Meeting Room Request form and either submit it to meetingrequest@unfccc.int or hand it to the Meeting Room Assignment counter in the ATLAPA CONVENTION CENTRE foyer. For download, refer to the online MRA form. Room assignment will be confirmed one evening before the meeting date. Rooms are booked free of charge for a maximum of one hour per party/organization per day. The rooms may have to be vacated at any time if the negotiation process so requires. Smokers are encouraged to enjoy the fresh air around the ATLAPA Convention Centre. Participants are requested not to remove interpretation headsets from the foyers or meeting rooms. 6

Where are the conference and meeting rooms? All meetings of the Convention bodies will be held on the premises of the ATLAPA Convention Centre and in the Sheraton Hotel. Plenary San Blas, meeting room Contadora and the Exhibits Area are located on the ATLAPA CONVENTION CENTRE ground floor. Please refer to the venue map on page 8 for the exact location. In addition to the meeting rooms on the ground floor, most meeting rooms are located on the first floor of the ATLAPA Convention Centre: Teatro La Huaca, Portobelo, Cestas, San Lorenzo, Panamá, Bocas, Boquete, Trenzado Lagunilla, Bejuco Chocoe, Chaquira. Computers and photocopiers The Participants Centre is located on the ground floor of the ATLAPA Conference Centre. Computers and high-speed printers are available for participants on a first come, first served basis. These computers provide Internet access and are equipped with word processing and spreadsheet software. Participants Centre opening hours: Saturday, 1 October to Friday, 7 October 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The equipment is intended for use by all participants. Please be considerate and do not monopolize equipment during periods of high demand. Coin-operated photocopying machines are available in the Business Center on the ground floor of the ATLAPA Convention Centre, just past the Participants Center. Public telephones A coin-operated telephone is available on the first floor of the ATLAPA Convention Centre, near meeting room Panamá.. Banking Brinks Bank services are available on the ground floor of the next to the Business Center (just past the Participants Center) A cash machine (ATM) is available in the lobby of the Sheraton. Meditation room The Meditation Room is located on the first floor of ATLAPA, behind meeting room Panamá. Notices anything else I should know? To align ourselves with current waste regulations and to help protect the environment, we ask all participants and colleagues to use the following system for disposing rubbish in waste bins around the conference premises. Where to eat in and around the conference center A cafeteria is located on the ground floor of the ATLAPA Convention Centre, next to the Participants Center in the foyer of the Cayucos Bar. There is also a snack bar on the ground floor, located immediately outside the conference center near Registration (exits 3 and 4). An additional snack bar is located on the first floor of ATLAPA Convention Centre near the meeting room Bocas. Restaurants Las Hadas, Cafe Bahia and Crostini are located at the Sheraton Hotel. For further information on places to eat in Panama, please visit: http://www.degustapanama.com (available in English and Spanish). Information about Panama Bus services Bus line Aventura 2000 services will have a shuttle from hotels to the ATLAPA Convention Centre every 15 minutes, identified in the lobby by a roller up. A representative of the transportation company will be located at the information desk close to the entrance of the ATLAPA Convention Centre. It has information on tourism in and around Panama, as well as local public transport information.
