BACKGROUND Payment Compass is a new website, designed to improve how business is done at UC San Diego We spend over $1.5 Billion a year on non-payroll related purchases of goods and services Issue over 28,000 non-payroll payments Setup over 9,000 new payees in our system a year. ~ 270,000 payees total Payment Compass improves two key aspects of business Streamlined collection of registration information for new payees Visibility into the payment process
PAYMENT STATUS Before Payment Compass, payment status information could be difficult to find: Due to Single Sign-On constraints, external payees had no access to see payment status information. They would contact employees in the department they worked with, or IPPS for updates While UC San Diego employees usually access to see the status of payment transactions, it sometimes required checking multiple different applications for a single transaction.
HOW MANY INQUIRIES DID IPPS GET? Payment Status is the #1 inquiry made in ASK.ucsd.edu 15,000 inquiries in 2016
HOW DOES PAYMENT COMPASS HELP? Payment Compass consolidates payment status information from Marketplace, MyPayments, MyTravel, and MyEvents transactions and our financial system into a single location. You can track a transaction through the approval process at UC San Diego, and see when the last time it was updated. Once paid, key information about the payment is available You and your payee have access to the same information there s nothing you can see that they can t.
PAYMENT COMPASS FOR UCSD EMPLOYEES: UC San Diego employees and affiliates can log in via Single Sign-On to: View status and payment information for all any Marketplace, MyPayments, MyTravel or MyEvents documents or payments Invite existing payees to register and view their own payment status and information for all applications Invite new payees to register for Marketplace
PAYMENT COMPASS FOR PAYEES: Once invited, an external payee can: Create a username/password for Payment Compass (or login via trusted authentication providers) Register to do business with UC San Diego View payment status Invite co-workers View FAQ s Send inquires using links located throughout Payment Compass

COMING SOON! Ability for you or your payee to upload an invoice directly to Payment Compass! Provide a copy of the invoice, and few key pieces of information, and you can route the invoice to IPPS electronically for entry into Marketplace.
